Porsche 911 Cabriolet unveiled

The Cabriolet comes shortly after the all-new 911 was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and like its predecessor, the new 911 Cabriolet uses a soft-top fabric roof, instead of a metal hard-top roof like some of its other rivals.Porsche says, however, that the roof on the new 911 Cabriolet uses composite materials that are supported by a new magnesium frame, which is said to reduce its weight. Porsche also claims that the design allows the typical 911 roof line to be "retained in its entirety" on the Cabriolet model. This is in contrast to the multi-layered fabric structure that forms the roof of the outgoing 997 Cabriolet.
Under the skin, the new 911 Cabriolet is identical to the Coupe. Power comes from a 3.4-litre flat-six engine that produces 350bhp in the Carrera, or a 3.8-litre with 400bhp in the Carrera S, and a choice of seven-speed manual or dual-clutch PDK transmissions are available.
