Bought the Sirion 1.5A version. Interior wise- Nothing to shout about quite plain design but certainly of the few hatches that comes with such ample legroom and headroom. Quite suitable for small families. Air con does take a while to cool down the interior on a hot day as compared to Nissan sunny or Latio. Fuel Consumption- Quite frugal light footed should be getting around 13-14km/l i am a heavy footer so i am getting around 10-11km/l. Performance- Pickup is brisk enough with the DVVT engine coupled with the car's light weight. It does make the Sirion a good city driving car. However, a certain amount of body roll is expected when cornering. Overall, i would rate this car as one of the underrated car with the spacious interior, nice performance and fuel friendly hatches around.

My previous ride was a suzuki swift 1.3A opc but have decided to get a black plate hatchback car.
I've shortlisted cars such as honda fit (old FL and new FL model) hyundai getz. But prices from dealers for the cars were not within my budget. I was quoted @ least $550 per mth based on 1.99% interest but it was quite out of budget.
I went to test drive this car after i saw it from sgcarmart webbie. And the price was quite attractive - $481 per mth based on 1.99%

It's my first car, and honestly never had it come to my mind that I will even consider a Daihatsu.
However, the purchase has been exceeding my expectation to far. The vehicle is by-and-by a family car, so it works fine for me as the whole objective is but something comfortable for a small family, and it's MPV function works well for me too; recline backseat to make up for the smaller boot space.

My aunt is driving this car for 2 years now. The AC is still great and ride is so smooth. The car design is very funky and cute. A pity that the boot space is so small.

The 1.3A pick up speed is very poor, often the last car to move off from traffic light, haha... power only comes in after 3rd gear.
However the fuel consumption is great.

Own my Sirion 1.3A for exactly 1 year. Was looking for a cheap car to move my small family. I have previously own a Toyota Starlet 1.0M and Vios 1.5A
I chose the Sirion 1.3A because it presented the best value then. I paid $47k for the car (OMV $12.9k, COE $13.3k). After factoring all the fees and taxes, I figured that the mark-up was only abt $4k+.
With child onboard, safety was paramount. The Sirion's 4 airbags and 4-star NCAP were not found in other cars in the sub-$50k price range (e.g. Swift, Lancer, Avante). Other models give me either 1 or 2 airbags only.
Reliability. Many people are surprised when I told them Daihatsu and Toyota are sisters company. Daihatsu Sirion is Toyota Passo; Daihatsu Materia is Toyota BB; my point is we can get "toyota" by paying for Daihatsu. The car is reliable, and the VVT engine feels, act and sound like my previous vios. But it's less powerful because of the smaller engine capacity. It has not given me any trouble. In contrast my new Vios had needed a little fix up because of noisy brakes when reversing (but Vios is very reliable, don't get me wrong). I get about 13.8km/l. Good but not fantastic for a small auto car.
I am quite tall, so the "MPV" styling appeals to me. I get good space above my head when I sit on any seat). The higher seats means I don't have to "crawl" into the car. If you like "lowered" feel, forget about this car. Cabin space is very good, don't be fooled by its mininature look. It is better than many 1.5 sedans.
The package was good. STS has immediate stock (I don't like waiting for shipment), and I get leather seat, reverse sensor, immobiliser, and car alarm. Huper Optik solar film costs additional $300+. Sales Engineer was friendly and accommodating.
What I don't like? The sound insulation is so-so only (is slightly noisy than the Vios). The boot is very small. A big pram OR a small child seat is all it can take.
The 2nd to 3rd gear is very wide apart. I prefer a closer ratio for better sprint. Also you must be prepared for that shock look from some people. They really think you drive a lorry when you mention D-brand. Also don't be shock by the warehouse look showroom and service center. The svc center is not very pro.
The price has gone up, so do your own maths.

Exterior for sport version not bad but should have bigger rims and tyres. Interior need to be revamp seriously.
Must have leather wrap, audio steering controls, nicer aircon dials, nicer meters...

Overall a good car as compared to the others in the same range. If only its sales and service centre is as good as the car itself. My new 4 week old sirion have been in and out of the workshop for the last one week over the same problem!Would recommend the car only if their customer service improve.
