Mazda -2 Hatchback -Stun by the performance
At a first look, it dont impress me in any form(space, design, small engine). lol got forced to test drive(Maunal) by my friend, end up the performance surprise me, good pick up at abt 1.8k - 2k rpm 60km/hr in 2.3 to 3sec with 3 passengers. Comfortable suspension for passenger unlike swift sport. Lack of space and pocket. No Glovebox.... Personally dont like its interior design =p... Read More
Mazda -2 Hatchback -Hype
Like so many girls, it looks really promising at first glance. Delve deeper and Cupid's arrow might totally give you a miss. Exterior-wise, it is much improved from the previous model. It's design is contemporary, the lines are well defined, things are where it should be. However, the tires look like chopsticks when viewed from the rear, the wheel arches need severe filling and frankly it looks like any other hatch on the road. Not that that's a bad thing in itself, if you akin yourself to lemmings. There is nothing distinguishable, and if you try, te Mazda 2 might come across as sleek; or a Peugeot 207 spin-off. Interior has no complaints. Like the exterior, it has everything a normal hatch has, and nothing more. The air-con is not climate controllable, the stock sound system is bad stock, the plastic feels as good as the quality, hard to the touch; although the switches feel tactile and resounds with a nice click. In fact, it feels totally orgasmic in relation to the rest of the cabin. The glove box has an interesting feature, a pseudo letterbox slot just aft of the actual glovebox. I wondered what that was for... It takes up space for the actual glovebox. It's the epitome of mediocre. A non-discerning customer will be okay with this... Not ecstatic, not depressed, just O.K. Rear headroom is adequate, as with rear legroom. The seat could be a little longer so long journeys would be more comfortable. However this problem is not exclusive to the 2, all small hatches suffer this malady. Bootspace is not classleading, but at least the backseats fold down to reveal a stepped floor. The doors feel solid and closes with a solid thunk. Soundproofing must be a strong plus point. Well made comes to mind when I think of the interior. On the road, the 2 is lukewarm at best; which is a shame because it feels like it can handle so much more power. Worst of all, mid range punch (70-110km/h for safe overtaking & real world performance) is not worth mentioning. It spoils it all, with some show but even less go. I'm not talking Evo performance here, I'm comparing it to a Honda Fit, and the 2 was found lacking. Fuel consumption was at least close to manufacturer's figures (12km/l) which would please many, the body kit does make it look so much better. This car has potential, and Mazda seems to be going in the right direction, just that now is not the time for the 2.... Read More
