We had a 2.0 Turbo version of the Tiguan for 2.5 years. It was one of the best cars I have ever owned. The 2.0 Turbo is essentially the same motor used by VW and Audi in a wide range of models it's smooth and reliable and delivers performance that feels more like a 3.0 litre V6.
This car is based on a VW Golf platform, but offers SUV view and road presence. Good ride and handling. The 2.0 litre is thirsty as this car weighs about 1600kg and if you're heavy with the right foot the consumption is surprisingly high compared to many contemporaries like the Honda CRV. The 1.4 TSI might be a better choice in Singapore but I have not tried one with this engine.

This is the perfect car for Singapore's bumpy roads and narrow parking lots. Was originally eying a bigger SUV but decided on this smaller model and have absolutely no regrets. This is a sporty car to drive with a punchy turbo engine, practical, and solidly built. Coming off a Japanese SUV, the Tiguan feels much more firm, solid, and reliable. Road holding is excellent, even in tight corners, overtaking is a breeze when needed. Interior is comfortable and well organized, seating is spacious. Loads of storage spaces in the cabin, materials and dash feel durable and of high end quality. The factory fitted Discover Media is a fantastic audio gps system, easy to connect phones and other media, albeit the screen is a bit small by today's standards. Fuel consumption is economical.
Boot space is smallish though, and driver seat should have a memory option. Other than that this car only has things to rave about.

Driving a 2010 Tiguan Sport, didn't know what I was getting into when I got it, puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.
Not bad build quality for an entry level X-over but a bit too pricey in Singapore though.

Owned the 2012 Tiguan for almost a year now. The ride is just simply excellent. Great comfort and good torque to conquer tarmac, muddy terrain and steep slopes. Excellent drive on highways too.
The 7 speed DSG gearbox does make a lot of difference.
There is not so much of body roll and the 4motion keeps the car glued to the road when initiating windy roads at high speed.
It drives more like a car compared to those big SUVs.
Definitely the best purchase I have ever made in terms of cars.
