Volkswagen has announced that the Tiguan has been awarded a five star safety rating by the car safety performance assessment programme Euro NCAP.
Now in its third generation, the Tiguan comes with safety features including the ability to detect if children have been left in the car, and now features side airbags for the outer seats for those seated in the second row. The car also comes with an exit warning system which can protect against an occupant opening one of the doors when another road user such as a cyclist is approaching from behind by offering both acoustic and visual warnings.
The car scored a total of 83% for the 'Adult Occupant' category as well as 88% for the 'Child Occupant' category and an 84% rating for the 'Vulnerable Road Users' category.
