Impressive fuel consumption
Took the car to Kuala Lumpur. Was very impressed with the fuel consumption. Went to and fro with one full tank . The power is impressive. The handling is good for high speed cruising on sports mode. But comfort model is highly recommended for singapore usage.... Read More
Towkay's Favourite
The sales figure speaks everything. Many towkays or businessmen in Singapore love the new S-Class. More stylish and higher-tech than before, it is of no surprise why this is the most successful model.
Nothing to find fault on its interior and engine performance. I shall focus on the exterior design instead.
I believe Mercedes designer drew design cues from the 2nd-gen CLS-Class, especially its side profile, flowing downwards from the bonnet to the top of the rear wheel arches. Conventional design always have the side profile flowing upward instead. The other parts of the car are totally different from the previous model too, with more curvy headlamps and taillights. LEDs are standard for the car (including the interior). I particularly like the rear design of the car. The tail lights are placed towards the edges of the car, separating from the tailgate. This creates an nostalgic feel of old-Merz of the past.
The car in its standard bumpers is already good looking enough. Personally, I feel the AMG sports kit kind of feel out of place on the car. On the other hand, the standard bumpers, together with the 5-spoke 20-inch alloy rims (standard on the S500L), enhances the elegant and nostalgic feel of this limousine.
This is definitely the best-looking S-Class. In fact, it is so successful that the latest C-Class and the upcoming E-Class have similar design (same sausage, different length).
I wonder what can be improved on the next facelift model.... Read More
