Car of the Now?
consumer review icon image
Review

When you look on the roads here, chances are you've come across this car more than twenty, thirty times each day. Why? It's relatively cheap, it's electric AND it looks the part too.

I was checking out the Seal and Sealion 7 back in May, and I had the chance to additionally take this out for a ride. The steering felt firm, but later I realised it was because it was in its "sport" mode. Seating comfort wise, it wasn't exactly what you'd call plush but it was manageable. The sound system was awful though, it was muffled as though the sound was trapped inside the speakers... The suspension didn't feel smooth at all, but then again it could be the sport mode doing its work.

Overall it's a decent car with attractive upfront packages but not-so-convincing aftersales record. Shame, because it is quite a beautiful car.

WLPT 420km is probably with no one inside in the car and travel 50km/h

Actual range 350 to 300km. Claim depend on driver. Also they say if you on aircon it will EAT more battery. I only manage to get 270km on Normal mode. Eco is worst 220km.

Car use about 4km per kwh not 6kwh claimed

Actual is 17.5kwh per 100km not 16kwh as per advertise

Wonder how BYD can get number 1 with such poor quality service and car. Probably only reason they good is they give high trade in for your car. Once you buy you are on your own.

Unlike other Brand like AION at least they extend the warranty or servicing to thier earlier customer. BYD no. They low ball you then they ignore you. Same like what they did in thailand

Better look at MG/Hyundai or Even Jaecoo. they offer more value and better service than a name so called number 1 but poor service.

Value for money, but questionable durability
consumer review icon image
Review

Had the opportunity to drive a one-year-old Atto 3 as a temporary replacement car for 2 weeks, and this is my experience with it.

The car has plenty of soft materials that felt nice to the touch. Seats are cushy and comfy. Big infotainment screen gives the car a high-tech feel. Indeed, it has lots of tech features for the price that you pay. The drive and handling was fine, just don't expect much from this price range. Acceptable acceleration, body roll is quite obvious, but not to the point of losing control.

However, I have doubts on the durability of the car. For the unit that I drove, the centre arm rest cushion has already flattened from regular arm-resting, leaving the leather wrap loose (imagine a blister). I suspect other cushy parts will have the same problem after years of regular usage.

The wireless carplay is questionable too. There were two occasions where my carplay disconnected in the middle of the drive, and I lost the satnav. I had to exit to somewhere safe to set up my satnav again.

Actual range 350km or lesser on average.

No God eye upgrade.

Steering rack issue less than 6mths, with no ready stock for replacement(takes about 2 months or more to wait).

Some might get draftshaft issues as well.

Some reported BSD alarms from less than 1 year owners.

Car horn is damn hard to press on and once press, it's damn loud that type.

New owner to EV.

My previous car KIA cerato K3. Definitely a huge change. Never regret!

What i likes.

-Super spacious seats and front and back boot.

-Handling i feel is good. It's not as bad as people mention. Maybe it's the safely feature activated thus causing the issue.

-I think the suspension is good compare to my previous ride. So bouncy. Man go slow then.

-Music surround its good when you blast them !

-Try to dislike the 15.6" Screen. Damn guys like big right.

-Exteriors is also good the door is design to trap mud and dust so it won't get in trust me very useful when travel across Singapore often.

-Auto start aircon and unlock feature using apps.

-Crazy wide sun shade and sun roof

-360 camera view.

-Clear front dash camera

What I dislikes.

-No spare tyres, which gave you extra space right.

-interior a little funky but sleek. Kinda like aircraft pilot or spaceship.

-Some bugs with the spotify. Trying to goggles seem it's common to have playlist missing song. Have to use android auto instead.

-They don't supply the small items. You will have to source those items from Taobao or shopee.

Apologise, if my review wasn't what you looking for but it's what and how I felt. Compare to my previous car.

Been driving this car for 9 months with no issues.

Value for money. Max cost from 0-100% is less than $45 in Singapore. Couple of times using this car, we test its mileage to the extreme 'Zero Percent' feeling. It's enough mileage to cover for 5 days with it's average distance covered 350-400km per full charge.

Save us from a couple of major accidents with it's safety features. The only dissatisfaction is the Atlas tyre given as it's not that long lasting. If never do tyre rotation at 10k, both front tyre flower thread is almost worn out to. Change whole set to my preferred CP7.

The furthest we went is to Perak for glamping and no issue on charging. Although you need to plan much intensively where to charge your car. Most popular RnR on AH2 now have a charger or two especially 2H of 2024.

The only dissatisfaction is that High Insurance. Even with 50% NCD is $1400+. Instant torque like 2-liter turbo car. Then using a CAT A for Atto3, I do not mine the charge of $700+ which is equivalent to 1.6 liter hybrid but the extra surcharge tax by the Government of $700+ which add up to $1502~ road tax. Its asterisk something about fuel tax we would use for the year thus need to be tax.

Looking for an Electric family car at the time of writing. Went to test drive the Atto3 Cat A version over the weekend especially after seeing many of them on the roads and their attractive ad pricing.

The exterior of the car is alright I guess, not eye catching or special maybe it being a common sight on roads. Found it ridiculous to charge extra for the "Carbon edge" Package.

The interior of the car feels confusing and the buttons feel misplaced with driver controls being mixed up with climate controls making it feel more like an appliance than a car. The guitar strings and dumbbell aircon vents are a cute touch but the rotating screen feels like a gimmick to me-Dont see when one would ever use it in potrait. The seats of the car lack foundation and any structure making it lumpy and uncomfortable for long journeys. The instrument cluster makes the car feel cheap as well and I'm driving a small hatchback rather than an SUV. The cluster in the Seal felt so much better.

The tech of the car is not bad however, with the voice controls and 360 camera.

The drive on the car however is alright. To me, All Cat A Ev SUVs drive roughly the same in terms of power and handling, tried E-C4x, E-2008, Ioniq 5 and Y Plus so far. However, the suspension of the Atto3 is neither soft nor still making it sit in an uncomfortable in between so its firm but there is still strong body roll and soft yet with some ride harshness.

Rented a Standard Range from JB to Genting and Back
consumer review icon image
Review

I was very interested in the ATTO 3 as a replacement car but a short test drive would not suffice. Furthermore, the review on YT seems mixed. Many complained about the bouncy ride, poor handling etc.

I rented from Hertz JB in Jun 2024 for a period of 6 days. Drove to Genting and back. Charged up 3 times. Total amount spent RM180. I used only the KwH payment stations. Other stations you need to pay by time.

Tried to charge at a SHELL station but they told me I need to purchase a credit of RM200 to use the charger. WTF !

The ATTO is a nice car to drive...Very comfortable at low speed, kampong roads, city but up on the highway, it is very floaty, bouncy....So much so it give me a headache. The warning devices inside is also irritating. Could not figure out how to resolve this but when driving without cruise control/lane assist, the warning "Emergency Lane Departure Triggered" Would appear each time....Buzzing, tinking, etc. Really pissed off with this. So I have to drive with both cruise control/LD even in city so as to avoid this.

They said that the instrument panel is small. I HAVE TO AGREE ! This coupled with green icons against a light blue background, you could hardly see what the car is trying to tell you. Setting the cruise control speed, I have to really stare at the instrument to see the speed set.

I think the seat is too hard for me. I prefer my Golf seats. The absence of a rain wiper sensor is pathetic. The is no audible warning when locking the doors.

EV Additional Flat rate road tax!
consumer review icon image
Review

I cancel the booking . Besides high road tax, insurance also higher and electricity charging rates are higher than household. Moreover, Ikea Tampines , Our Tampines Hub and Changi Airport no longer offer free charging!

The road tax is more than double of our Toyota Yaris hybrid , the fuel savings per year is not eventful. In fact we are paying more on electricity charging rates because we only pump petrol once a month so the maths just don't work out.

Blame this on LTA Additional Flat Rate road tax on EV cars which you must pay $700 extra per year on top of the standard road tax!

What I hated:

- My MotorEast SA functions on two brain cells and zero accountability. Screwed up my car's colour due to miscommunication on his side, and at delivery he tried pulling a fast one â€" to "Accept" The scratches and paint-correct at my own cost outside.

- No wireless Apple CarPlay.

- No ventilated seats (which is fine at this price point)

- If you're on CarPlay, you'd need >2 steps to adjust the aircon.

- Easily forced into a body roll at corners, which is unexpected since a heavy battery should provide a lower centre of gravity.

What I loved:

- Safety features are great, forces you to be a safe driver.

- 360 cameras have high clarity and are intuitive.

- Continental tyres for 2024 versions.

- 15.6" Large screen for 2024 versions.

- Panoramic sunroof (surprising at this price point)

- Dark interior for those who think the white muscle fibres is overwhelming.

- High torque, pickup is godlike. Happy to sacrifice power to fit into Cat A though. Perfect for city driving.

- Flat floor for rear passengers (given for pure EV platforms), lots of legroom.

- Taobao has all sorts of accessories, even spare parts.

The ride and build quality is very impressive, so is the long list of features. It has full safety features and a NCAP 5 star rating. If you cover the logo, the experience is similar to driving a much more expensive car. Part of it has to do with the car being an EV where the silent instant torque is a sheer delight. The other part is what the manufacturer decides to provide for the driver. Even the back door panels are padded, I didn't have this in my previous top of the range car.

Car charging will not be as convenient as pumping petrol. So this may not be suitable for everybody. The car is comfort driven, people looking for sportiness may need to look elsewhere.

For the overall value of the car, considering the high COE cost. The vehicle is packed with safety features (inbuilt dash cam) and cool, rotatable head unit (that can be used for split apps)

The vehicle also uses the blade battery, that is industry leading in terms of safety.

Highly recommended.
