Great car but can wait as BYD is chasing global sales and dropping price every 2weeks. Expect it to drop further.
Ignore all the exterior styling/Interior Design comments (even my ratings), go see of yourself, cars are very subjective personal things.
My 2 cents is this car, is giving Audi A6 and above quality, at Camry prices (if equalise EV rebates), so I went for it. I would say, go and test drive the Zeekr 7X, Xpeng G6 and maybe coming Leapmotor C10 and decide for yourself. I preferred BYD's more old school more button designs compared to the rest, it was a big factor in my decision. Screw the Tesla minimalist bs (manufacturer excuse to save money)
Taken delivery of my car and switched from Mercedes C200 to BYD Sealion 7. Its interior is well thought out with all necessary physical buttons. It feels more luxurious than C200.
The suspension set up feels very much like Land Rover Velar, with a little dip when you emergency brake, so feels like you are driving a boat. Vibration is well filtered and are far better than C200 rough drive, which is set for sportier driving. But it's not my cup of tea.
Power delivery is smooth and driving is less tiring as you hardly need to push or nurse the car. The car will look after you.
Power consumption is no issue within Singapore as battery can last about 6 days for daily island driving.
Pricing is so competitive as you get a Porsche Panamera 3.0 PDK performance but 2/5 of the price. I think the car itself will sale well as long as price stays below $300k.
The cockpit and interior space are particularly appealing features. Furthermore, the vehicle's acceleration capabilities are impressive.I find the cockpit of this vehicle incredibly inviting, with its sleek design and intuitive layout. The interior space is also remarkably well-planned, offering comfort and ample room for passengers. I'm particularly impressed by the quality of materials used throughout the cabin. The vehicle's acceleration capabilities are truly remarkable, providing an exhilarating driving experience. Whether cruising on the highway or navigating city streets, the performance is exceptionally responsive. I'm excited to see where this car takes me next!
Nice design, comfortable, mature, spacious & competitive pricing (ensure you get a good deal before signing!!)
The latest iteration of the German powerhouse's flagship has now gone all-electric...
...except it's not German at all - This is the BYD Sealion 7, a car so refined you could easily mistake for a Porsche model if you covered the badge. BYD has been making waves in the last 2 years with the Atto 3 and the Seal, and it has now delivered another product to rival the Tesla Model Y. Can the Chinese outplay the... Chinese?
From the rear, it stands out with its menacing stance and "droplet' designed lights. It has two spoilers for improved aerodynamics, but that's where the flair ends. The front and sides are a complete eyesore. It has plastic wheel arches and vents, and looks like a catfish.
But forget that. Step inside to a world of luxury with quilted leather, comfy and plush seats, a panoramic moonroof, heads-up display, it's almost a moving home. The diffused ambient lighting gives a premium feel and isn't too bright or dark. The crystal gear selector gives you a reminder before you set off that you're driving a really special car. Acceleration is zippy, but there's not quite the handling to match the power of this car. There's plenty of body sway too - passengers with motion sickness, or passengers in general, to be honest might not be the biggest fan. Seating comfort is brilliant though and excels in every aspect.
For $210,000, it's quite literally a bargain. You get alot for your money. It's big, it's powerful and ticks almost every box.
From the looks of the car, it's easy to mistake this as a sports SUV with neck-breaker acceleration and sniper-precise handling. But no, this car drives just like your regular family SUV. It just happens to look like a track-ready sports car with the aggressive-looking headlight, sharp lines, and sloping roof.
I had the privilege to test drive the Sealion 7 Premium for about 20 minutes. I must say, BYD really did a great job in providing great value for money in this model. Once you enter the cabin, every touch point feels premium to the touch. Everything is wrapped in soft leather. The leather seats are soft and cushy, and most importantly, it has ventilated seats! A godsend in Singapore. Passenger seats is spacious with plenty of leg room. Despite the sloping roofline, passengers at the back still have reasonable amount of head room. Cover the brand logo on the steering wheel, and you may think that you are in a luxurious continental car.
The drive is comfortable, but if you are expecting a sporty handling or fast acceleration because of the aggressive looks, you may be disappointed. 0-100km in 6+ seconds is by no means slow, but it is nothing to write home about. Your regular 2L ICE cars are pumping out such figures too, and that's a shame because if you are switching to an EV for the first time, the instant torque is probably one of the thing that gets you excited about, and this model doesn't give you that. The regenerative braking seems to be quite weak, even on high setting, so it will be quite hard to do one-pedal driving with this.

Great cabin space, one of the best in it's class. Extra space in the front bonnet for groceries shopping or packed food as well, free up more space for the boot and smell of your "Dabao" Food.
Performance and power is more than sufficient despite the weight of the car. (308bhp/380NM torque).
Leather seats are real comfortable and with ventilated front 2 seats in our climate, it's a real blessings.
Nice whole moon roof with automatic shades are great. It doesn't seems to feel warm even when I open the sunshade on a hot day, maybe the higher end solor film really works well.
Sound insulation in the car is great. Quiet due to the double layer glass panel.
Some features you will only get in high end luxury cars came as a standard in here.
Karaoke system is cool
AI assistant also cool
Not too good
Charging speed seems to be longer than declared. The charging power plays a part but still took abt 10-20% longer then stated.
Not as efficient as other EVs in terms of mileage (compared to Aion or Xpeng G6)
Bodyroll is quite obvious, maybe due to the high seating position. Bumpy when going over humps.
Boot space seems to be tighter than declared.
Local solar film installation not that good.
Seat belts retractable not that sensitive.
Having owned many different brands which include, Toyoya, Honda, Opel, Subaru, Mercedez Benz and BMW for the past 20 years, I got disappointed over the fuel transmission upgrades since the last 10 years as there is very little progression.
Despite all the negative feedbacks on EVs, I decided to take a plunge. Having driven for the past few weeks including to Malaysia, I realized that most of the negative feedbacks are untrue. Filling up my car is so convenient now as I do not need to travel out of my way to find a petrol kiosk.
Sharp looking SUV, with insane interior space and epic legroom for everyone. I'm about 1.83m and both the front and rear legroom give at least a two-fist gap - super comfy!!
Performance? Next level! 0-100 in just 6.7 seconds with zero lag and crazy torque, making every drive feel effortless.
The seats are crazy too - the cushion feel is on another level and the ventilated front seats are just fire.
And for all these cool features, you don't pay extra - they come as standard!
I've owned this car for a month since Jan 22 and honestly, no regrets. Compared to the family E-Class, this ride beats it hands down in comfort, performance, and size!!
EV for the win!! Moving from a Z4 to a 4 Series Gran Coupe and now to this beast has been one upgrade after another!
The #BYD1 is a good choice if you want a strong, powerful SUV that is spacious and you want to save on fuel expenses.
