Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-S 2.0 (A) Review
04 Jun 2010  |  Mitsubishi Reviews
Unleash high octane driving fun with the new Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-S. With a bold new look and an integrated chrome front grille and racy lower lip styling, I'd say it's a moving statement on the road.

Excellent car with great features like rain sensor, auto light. The leather seats is up to standard for the brand. Good handling, the car is in control even at high speed. The road noise is less. Comfortable ride for your family. 6 speed auto finishes the car in style and performance. Responsive engine quick acceleration makes the car a perfect one. The leg room and head room is acceptable. Its a perfect car for its price.

What I like
Rain sensor and auto headlight.
Smart key.
Paddle shifts for 2.0.
Comfortable seats.
H.I.D for 2.0.
6 speed auto.
Paddle shifts.

What I do not like
The car is low so hard for a person 1.8m+ person to sit inside the car.
Other than that Lancer EX is great car.

Review
After studying n reading about the reviews of this model for a year after the launch ( Aug 2007 ) I decided that the 2.0L sports model is one car for me.

No car is perfect but this car meets my requirements.

I feel this car is the most under rated product for the 2 litre class.

If there is any upgrading to 2 litre and yet sensitive to price this is the one to look for. Though the prices have shot up, I am sure C n C will still give good discounts.

What I like
2 litre Mivec - good for urban driving and highway
6 gears CVT wf paddle shift
17 inch tires - just nice for this car
Economical on FC; I plan my route ahead and try to drive along highway
Stable esp along NSH
Price is the most affordable for this class when I got it in Oct 2008

What I do not like
A tad heavy and the pick up is sluggish. Then again I dont need my car to pick up fast. I usually start off gradually.

But along HSW the car is really stable

The interior looks nice especially with lots of leather.
Very spacious and comfortable rear seats. Auto headlights are a good to have feature.
The exterior looks sporty.
The sound system is better than other car's stock system.

Cons
Noisy engine as I believe is due to the timing chain.
The auto gear always switches to the most fuel efficient gear and caused the slow pickup

Hi, Everyone.

Recently i bought a 09 Lancer Ex Sunroof & drove for a month. Let me cut the stories short & let's it make it to the straight point for those are considering getting the model.

I mod my 4 side suspension (Hard), 16 inch sports rim & Exhaust. Out of this 3, everything are stocks.

1.Fuel Consumption
12.7km per litres
80% Expressway 20% Urban
11.9km per litres
50% Express 50% Urban
(I rev the car 5 times a week when necessary)
In Malaysia
90% Express 10% Urban
13.4km per litres

Petrol Re-fuel (59litres)
The first time i empty my tank until red light indicate: 590km / 49litres = S$80.00

I visit Petrol Station onces a week. Shell 95
450km / 37litres (S$1.63)per litres = S$60.00 before discount. I travel 100km or less per day.

Engine / Handing / Performance

Every Morning, I will warm up my engine for 5 mins before move off. When i moving off, you will hear a rough roaring sound coming out from the engine (The Engine just wake up) after driving for 10mins or less will be back to normal. So don't worry, will get use to it.

I am not a light footer but sometime need to rev when necessary. Advise, When moving off, try to step abit hard as the car body is heavy. I monitor, when you acceralate 2000rpm will change gear. Moving Off may be slow but after 40km (2nd gear to 3rd) will be normal.

Last weekend, I drove to malaysia & i travel up to 160km on North South Highway. I notice that the car is still stable & not much floating compare to my old altis 1.6A which i travelled up to 140km (Floating). Hmmm. Yes. For this model the steering might be lighter but when i drive fast, the steering getting heavier.

For cornering is stable then my old Altis. I try about 70km on cornering. Still acceptable.

For those who have family to drive in to malaysia: recommendable but please remember to buy a steering lock or park in a safe place. Not a Problem if you are travelling 110-140km (Safe)in federal highway even on trunk road.

I find GLS 1.5 Ex is no much difference with 1600cc other model.

Thank You.

All Details given by me is base on my foot & own driving habit.

What I like
Responsive Handling
Sporty
Comfortable
Sunroof (Starry Starry Night)

What I do not like
Interior Light should place another 1 in centre.

No Auto Retrackable Side Mirror

Drum Brake shall implement into Disc Brake

Should have 1.8 model with sunroof for those who can't afford a 2.0GT or GLS

Have tested the normal version last weekend. To my surprise, the engine is quieter than the one my friend had earlier.

According to the salesperson, they have downtuned it, probably from feedbacks which is good.

Interior was nice and good, controls are reachable too.

Exterior styling is nice and looks much better than the GLX one. Can't remember if there is reverse sensor as standard for both packages.

Drive was good and engine was responsive too. Turning not so much bodyroll also.

Overall, not a bad car to get as compared to some other similar ones of specs and price in the current market.

The sports one will be a more worthwhile to get as the slight price difference gives you many more accessories.

What I like
- The quieter MIVEC engine compared to earlier batch
- Less bodyroll when turning
- More accessories offer with little top-up from normal to sports package
- Nice exterior and interior styling

What I do not like
- Price can be slightly lower compared to other similar ones
- Normal version should come with 16 inch while sports should come with 17 inch rims

I just done my 1st servicing and yes, I love this car since I got it the first day.

I've been slowly looking at various cars and testing them. In fact, was looking at getting the Hyundai Avante or the Toyota Allion. But in the end, Lancer EX is the choice and I've never regret it since.

What I like
Keyless - This is one of the greatest feature esp when both your hands are occupied. You can even open the boot with a push of the button at the boot area without even having to open the car door first. My 18 months old can do it, so can you!
FC - I've done 12 km/l but this may not be indicative. Yes, yes, toyota can do better, but...
Looks - The exterior looks a beauty. Although I got the 1.5, it comes with the GT spoiler. Looks much much better, trust me
Leather Seats - They are comfortable.
Nice interior dashboard
Sound system - I'm not a hard core sound guy, but the sound system is one of the better ones I've heard that come factory fitted

What I do not like
Boot Space - Enough but I would love to have a slightly bigger one to comfortably put 4 golf bags.
Engine? - I've put a question mark here because I've only tested the engine during the test drive. But overall I feel it's still acceptable unless you compare with Honda. For the price, can't complain
Noise - The sound proofing not that great on certain roads
Non-retractable side mirror

Recently collected my new Lancer EX 1.5 AT Sports. Almost everything about the car is great. The sports model had keyless entry system, imobiliser, climatic aircon control, auto rain/lights sensor, audio control on steering wheel, fog lights, full leather seats and 16" sports rim and i love them all! Features aside, the sales exec is friendly and provides good, honest service.

The handling is superb and FC is rather good. I roughly clocked 14km/l with 70% highway drive. This car has good interior space and very nice and neat dashboard with orange lights which looks very cool at night. Audio system and aircon is pretty decent as well. Sound proofing is quite good but not the 100% serene kind.

The pick-up from 0-60km is a little underpowered from its weight/bhp ratio but its certainly steady when cruising at high speed. The 2.0 GT model would probably be perfect but the price is too much for me.

What I like
- All the features mentioned above.
- Great exterior/interior styling.
- Good FC
- Good handling and very responsive.
- Fully Japan made.
- Very Value for money :)

What I do not like
- Initial slow pick-up for the 1.5 model.
- No auto retractable side mirrors.

Practically everything about the car is perfect! The EX is definitely one of those good cars that is excellent for owners, being single or as a family. THe interior space itself is wide, lots of leg space and comfy. It'll be perfect if back air-conditioners are to be installed for behind users.

Handling's pretty good in itself, with good power steering and stability of its overall performance. Being an FC car, the petrol consumptions pretty decent. Being someone very particular about consumption rate, i'll probably rate this as 3.8 / 5.

Overall it's a fantastic car that both the younger and older generations would enjoy for a nice ride of speeding joyrides or just a safe smooth ride around in the roads.

What I like
Space - Excellent

Design - Sporty and style, especially with bodykits added.

Consumption - Good not great, can be better. Haha!

What I do not like
The cons would definitely be the pick up. The pick up isn't that powerful, especially the 1.5L model. It isn't as powerful unless u're able to convert it to manual and control the speed yourself. for those into speed, i'd suggest to take the 2.0 GT instead, as they have paddle shifts that allows u to control the pick up speed.

So basically put, The more u accelerate, the faster the car will go, but the more petrol u consume, so it defeats the purpose of having good petrol consumption. That's why this car would be much perfected with manual set. = P

I just collected my Lancer EX 1.5 Sports 2 weeks ago. Totally love the car. Compared to my previous car, which is a 2004 Altis, I feel that this car has better handling, features, interior and exterior design and better comfort level than my previous Altis.

Also compared to the current version of the altis, the Lancer EX has definitely better looks than that BORING looking altis.

What I like
Good handling
Many luxurious features
Interior and exterior design
Comfort level

What I do not like
No auto retractable mirrors.

Just got my Lancer EX 1.5 Auto Exclusive.

Very smooth drive and acceleration.

To me it has better looks then the Toyota cars which is boring and stale.

What I like
The aggressive and sporty look.

Cool red lights for the dashboard.

What I do not like
Some tyre noise but I guess it is common.

No others to complaint about.

Impressed with the new Lancer EX, thus spending considerable amount of time reading up quite a few reviews prior test driving. My interests with EX was truely shaken as almost all reviews pointed out the "NOISE" problem and poor/inadequate engine performance as induce by the slightly heavy car weight.

Not convinced with the reviews, went test drive with Lancer EX 1.5 Sport in early Sept and was a put off. Apparently, I can instantly hear "Bong Bong" noise coming out from the exhaust even with just a slight flooring on acceleration. On the plus side, I found the 1.5 MIVEC 16V DOHC MNEC engine to perform better than what I expected or anticipated. To certain extent, I felt that the EX 1.5 Sport seem to have more push than my current Sunny 1.6.

I didn't ink the deal during my first test drive session even though Mitsubishi's sales assured me that the new batch (EX car manufactured after July) will address the the noise problem. As I was madly in love with the Lancer EX's specification and features, I've asked the sales to keep me inform when the new shipment arrived.

In mid Sep, the Mitsubishi sales called to inform that the July EX's shipment has arrived in Singapore and Mitsubishi mechanics gave a thumb up for the "noise problem" after testing the new shipment.

I took a bet that what the sales told me was true and rush down to Mitsubishi Motor to ink the deal upon hearing the welcome news eventhough I didn't personally test drive the new shipment.

Before collecting the car, was poundering whether the noise problem can really be eliminated or reduced or am I stupid enough to pen the deal without testing the new shipment. When collected the EX on 4 Oct, I was extremely delighted with the new batch of Lancer EX!!!!

The latest shipment of Lancer EX is really GREAT!

Noise problem has significantly reduced (to certain extend, non existence) and the ride is pretty much serene even when acceralating between 0~60km. Engine performance (associating with noise) is even better than my previous Nissan Sunny.

Ride is wonderful and I'm glad to bet it right for the best available deal in the car market as Lancer EX 1.5 Sport comes with alot of nice features for which normally installed on those luxury cars. For the price of 1.5 Sport, I get to enjoy those luxurious features. In my opinion, the deal is truly value for money and I'm glad I got one!

What I like
- Controls on steering wheel
- Auto headlights
- Rain sensing wipers
- Immobiliser
- Keyless Operation System
- Full bodykit
- Leather steering wheel
- Sport rims, 16"
- Climate control aircon
- Awesome Audio system

What I do not like
- No Auto retractable side mirrors
- No auto locking when driving

Collected my EX1.5 Elegance last week. Was a little worries about the engine noise and the wind noise as reviewed by the many bros on this website.

Was pleasantly surprised by the absence of these noises. Ride was surprisingly comfortable and steering was light and responsive.

For the price i paid, i thought it was a decent ride. My previous car was a 2004 Altis. Compared to the Altis, i felt the EX felt "lighter" and "quicker".

What I like
1) Aggressive Exterior Look
2) Nice Orange Dashboard
3) Good FC
4) Informative Dashboard

What I do not like
1) Side Mirrors do not fold in.
2) Remote Locking/Unlocking could have a "beep". (confuses me whether the car is locked or not)
