Construction work on two more MRT stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line has officially begun. The new line will cost a total of $24 billion to build, and will stretch over 43km to connect residents living in the Northern part of Singapore to the city and the East.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officiated the groundbreaking ceremonies of the two new stations, namely Lentor and Mayflower.
The new line will be opened in stages, with the last stage slated to be ready for operations in 2024. Both Lentor and Mayflower stations are slated to open in 2020. Work on Woodlands South and Springleaf stations has already started.
