Delays due to train fault on the East-West Line

A train fault on the East-West Line has delayed commuters during peak hour on Thursday morning, the 28^th of January 2016, reported The Straits Times. Rail operator SMRT said in a tweet at 8:03am that there was an expected additional travelling time of 15 minutes from Outram Park to Jurong East stations, in the direction of Joo Koon.

It revised its estimate in subsequent tweets, with the latest update at 8:21am warning of an estimated 25 minutes travelling time from Aljunied to Jurong East stations. Commuters were not impressed at the timing of the fault, with several complaining about the congestion at stations on social media. 

Some claimed that the train fault had occurred at Kembangan station and that there was no East-bound train because of the fault.
