BMW M GmbH has launched the BMW M2 CS - an exclusive limited-run model with an eye-catchingly sporty appearance.

An array of design elements made from Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) ensure the BMW M2 CS cuts an even sharper figure than the BMW M2 Competition. They include a newly designed bonnet, a roof made entirely from CFRP (a first for the BMW M2), a new front splitter, a spoiler lip on the boot lid, and a rear diffuser finished in exposed carbon fibre.

The twin-turbo six-cylinder engine now develops 444bhp, an increase of 39bhp above that of the BMW M2 Competition.

Cars fitted with the optional seven-speed M double-clutch transmission will sprint from zero to 100km/h in 4.0 seconds, while cars equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox - offered for the first time in a BMW CS model - will do the same sprint in 4.2 seconds. The top speed of the M Driver's Package equipped special edition is electronically limited at 280km/h.

Superior stopping power is guaranteed with larger brake discs than the M compound brakes of the BMW M2 Competition, at 400mm on the front, and 380mm for the rear axle, and larger calipers with six-pistons on the front and four-piston fixed calipers in the rear.

Customers can also select the optional BMW M Carbon ceramic brakes which are not only lighter, but can also soak up the harshest punishment and last longer.

Credit for the car's sharp and agile handling goes to elements such as the CFRP high-precision strut brace, which increases the rigidity of the front-end structure, and the extremely accurate Dynamic Stability Control system. Also lending a helping hand is the Active M Differential, an electronically controlled multi-plate locking mechanism which responds with exceptional precision and speed to optimise traction and directional stability.

BMW's Adaptive M suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres also add to the suite of handling upgrades. The adaptive M suspension allows the driver to alter the damper settings through choosing between Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes.

The cabin of the BMW M2 CS combines an exclusive, pure-bred appearance with the sporty feel of classy Alcantara and innovative lightweight design. The centre console is made entirely of lightweight carbon fibre, and CFRP is also used for the door pulls and trim.

Ultra-light M Sport seats from the BMW M4 CS add another ergonomic and visual highlight with their bucket-style construction. The Merino leather and Alcantara covered seats sport red contrast stitching representing their racing heritage and ensure unshakable lateral support even in competitive track driving.
