Audi presents the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback S models, promising a more agile, sharper and dynamic on-road behaviour.

The Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback are becoming more agile, sharper and more dynamic with its new S models.

The new Audi e-tron S models will be the first mass production electric cars worldwide with three motors
The S models will be equipped with three electric motors, with two located on the rear axle and one at the front.

Combined, the three electric motors can temporarily provide 489bhp of boost power and 973Nm of torque, allowing the two purely electrically driven models to accelerate from rest to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Power output without the boost function is capped at 423bhp and 808Nm of torque.

Audi's intelligent drive control will also raise vehicle safety and dynamic handling to a new level. In addition to the electric all-wheel drive, electric torque vectoring with active and fully variable torque distribution will feature on the rear axle, allowing for agile driving and self-steering characteristics as well as a higher cornering speed on the S models.

A maximum of 489bhp during boost will allow the S models to reach 100km/h from a standstill in 4.5 seconds
The new Audi e-tron S models will be the first mass production electric cars worldwide with three motors. The larger electric motor which powers the rear axle in the Audi e-tron 55 has now been installed on the front axle in an adapted design and configured for 164bhp of power, or 198bhp during boost.

The two smaller electric motors in the rear, meanwhile, will together offer 259bhp of power, or 349bhp in boost mode.

The e-tron S models will feature the latest from Audi's design vocabulary. Details such as the octagonal Singleframe have been sealed and painted bright grey, moving the design into the electric era. The two prototypes of the e-tron S models pictured are driving on 20-inch alloy wheels in the five-spoke S design as standard, but wheels up to 22 inches in size are available on request. The tyres sized 20 to 22 inches have all had their widths enlarged to 285mm for greater dynamism in the corners.

The tyres sized 20 inches and above have had their widths increased to 285mm
At the lower edge of LED head lights, four struts create the e-tron-specific signature in the daytime driving lights. The front and rear bumpers are heavily contoured, while the diffuser insert runs almost the full width of the vehicle.

Both S models are also available, on request, with Audi's digital Matrix LED head lights, a worldwide first in mass production.

Their light is dispersed into small pixels and can be controlled with high precision, facilitating many new functions such as being used as lane and orientation lights. In narrow areas, for example, it can show the car's position in the lane and thus helps the driver to remain in the centre.

The interior of the future e-tron S models will use dark colours. The instrument panel is driver-oriented, while the middle tunnel's console rests on open side walls. The electrically adjustable Valcona leather sport seats and the gear selector lever feature a rhombus 'S' embossing, while the door sills and steering wheel will likewise feature 'S' badges. On request, Audi can offer a super sport seat in leather with a rhombus pattern in black, rotor grey or Aras red, as well as an air-conditioned customised contoured seat with perforated leather.
