Tesla to open servicing centre right here at Toa Payoh

Tesla will soon be operating a service centre at 17 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, a site formerly occupied by local Nissan distributor Tan Chong Motor.

The space is likely to be used as a service centre, given that Tesla has traditionally opted to locate its 'experience stores' - places from which customers can view its car and arrange for test drives - in more popular shopping centres and boutiques in other countries.

The three-story facility at Toa Payoh was put on the market for $13.5 million on 4 November 2019, according to real estate agent Savills Singapore. Completed in the 1990s, it houses a car showroom, office and workshop area on the first storey, offices on the second, and space for warehousing on the third.

Tesla had 'lived' its local online sales portal on 9 February 2021, with the Tesla Model 3 Performance, a high-powered version of the Model 3, which hits 100km/h in 3.3 seconds, available then at an estimated price of just under $155,000 before the Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

The price of the same model on the site currently stands at $154,815 before COE.
