Audi is embarking on a project intended to give its plant workers more work flexibility.
The innovative work model is being explored in the paint shop at the Ingolstadt site, benefitting 16 employees by leaning on a pool of 30 other colleagues, described as 'floaters' by Audi.
Those floaters come from areas of the paint shop that are not on the clock, such as trainees, employees with limitations, or people who normally work in the office, and help to fill in any gaps that arise due to the absence of part-time workers.
Audi states that innovative projects like this will not only make work and family more compatible for all its employees, but also create more visibility and recognition for part-time employees and managers.
