After having worked on classic Aston Martins, Rolls-Royces, Jaguars, as well as on the wedding present of David Beckham's son, electric car conversion firm Lunaz has now unveiled what it states is its rarest upcycled electric vehicle yet: A Bentley S2 Continental.
The Bentley has had its 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine removed, and in its place, is a 400bhp electric powertrain installed. This powertrain offers a total of 718Nm and allows the converted Bentley to launch from a standstill to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds.
A 400bhp all-electric drivetrain means the converted S2 Continental will now hit 100km/h from a standstill in 6.9 seconds Lunaz states that the conversion has produced a concours-standard vehicle, with detailed inspections of the car's chassis and powertrain all conducted prior, while extensive use of 3D scanning and computer aided-design was done to plot all the work required.
The body of the car was then stripped down to a bare metal shell and returned to as-new condition, all using traditional coachbuilding and restoration techniques, while any materials that could not be reused, such as the nylon in the car's seatbelt cord, was recycled.
The Bentley S2 Continental also has received new brakes, steering, suspension and electrics, designed to bring the car up-to-date with modern expectations and safety standards.
The interior of the converted car gets leather tanned with olive leaves, as well as veeners made from sustainable wood In the cabin, the car now sports hides tanned using naturally-fallen olive leaves, just as we first saw in the BMW iX. The carpeting, meanwhile, is now made from 100% regenerated nylon fibre and incorporates a backing made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.
The car also gets new wood veneers on the dashboard and other areas, all from sustainable sources, certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council.
