Audi is no stranger to driving on dirt, but it looks like it now wants to tackle the rough stuff, on two wheels.
The firm, together with Italian motorcycle and e-bike manufacturer Fantic, have launched a new limited run Audi electric mountain bike, designed to take the brand's efforts to offer alternative e-mobility beyond four wheels.
The Audi electric mountain bike is said to offer a wide breadth of abilities, just like the rest of the Audi e-tron range Like Audi's fully electric, road-going e-tron model range (catch our review of the e-tron GT here), the Audi mountain bike powered by Fantic stands out on the breadth of its abilities and has versatility at its core. From touring to endure biking, it's at home on a variety of terrain but its greatest strength is downhill riding thanks to full suspension travel of 180mm, wide wheels and off-road tyres.
The mountain e-bike sports a lightweight aluminium frame, designed to allow a relaxed riding position so riders can better react to obstacles and terrain ahead. And powering this bike is a 36V, 720Wh battery, located within the frame and marked out by e-tron branding and decals. This battery powers a 250W electric motor that can deliver up to 90Nm of torque.
The Audi electric mountain bike also comes with a small digital display located on its handlebars, to offer its rider key data such as battery charge and speed at a glance. When the battery level drops to less than 10%, the charge level indicator will begin to flash in the top right corner of the display.
