New RSR racer commemorates half a century of 911

The Silverstone stage of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) will welcome a new racer this April.

In the latest incarnation, the RSR employs sophisticated aerodynamics, helped by a substantial weight saving program with extensive use of lightweight materials, such as carbon fibre. Benefitting from the lightweight material are the front and rear wheel housings, front and rear lids, doors, underbody and rear wing etc. In addition, the new RSR will boast a lower centre of gravity as well as better weight distribution than its predecessor.
To better suit the RSR for endurance racing, the race car's body panels will feature a 'quick-change' concept, allowing ease of maintenance and quicker repair times. By relocating the radiator at the snout of the car also enables more efficient cooling than the previous model.
The two exclusive 911 RSR race cars will run their maiden race under the Porsche AG Team Manthey works team.
The Silverstone stage of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) will welcome a new racer this April.
Based on the latest generation of the 911 (codenamed 991), the RSR is now more dynamically honed. The racer car is powered by a 4.0-litre powerplant which delivers up to 460bhp. And in true Porsche tradition, the engine takes the form of a flat-six layout and is mounted behind the rear axle.
