The stars and glitters of the Singapore Motor Show 2015

After a long six-year absence, the Singapore Motor Show is back - this time round showcasing more than 150 models from various marques. Carmakers were eager to showcase some of their best models for 2015, with no fewer than 20 brand new models, including several who made their local debuts. The show will be on from 15th - 18th January 2015.
Here are some of the highlights of the ongoing Singapore Motor Show 2015 that are worth taking a look at:

With a kerb weight of just 895kg, the Alfa Romeo 4C is one ultra lightweight sports car that bears a heavy punch in terms of performance.
With 240bhp and 350Nm from its four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit, the 4C achieves an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 268bhp per tonne, which allows it to complete the century sprint in just 4.5 seconds.
The pure two-seater coupe also adopts a transversely-mounted mid/rear engine layout and rear-wheel drive to further enhance driving pleasure.
At launch, the Alfa Romeo 4C retails at $318,800 (without COE).

Audi's latest two-seater sports car shone brightly at the Audi stand. Combining the brand's essence - Sophistication, Progression, and Sportiness, the third generation TT Coupe reinvents the timeless shape of the original TT and matches it with some of Audi's latest innovative technologies, such as the new Audi virtual cockpit.
Lightweight composite construction, coupled with the capable quattro all-wheel drive system, allows the 230bhp TT 2.0 Coupe to sprint from nought to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds.
At launch, the Audi TT 2.0 TFSI retails for $309,400 (including COE).

Audi's latest five-door coupe gets new powertrain configurations, new lights and a new infotainment system to stay ahead of the herd. With extensive use of aluminium and high-tech steel grades in the construction, Audi has made the A7 Sportback as light as possible without compromising on safety and comfort.
To boast a stronger emotional appeal, both variants of the A7 Sportback (2.0-litre TFSI and 3.0-litre TFSI) will come standard with dynamic LED turn indicators and the innovative Matrix LED headlamps.
At launch, the Audi A7 Sportback 3.0 TFSI retails for $389,800 (including COE).

The new X6 is bigger and more comfortable than before. With a boot space that is 75 litres bigger than before, it boasts better practicality.
The range-topping xDrive50i X6 is powered by the marque's latest generation 4.4-litre V8, which churns out 450bhp and 650Nm of torque - 10 percent more than its predecessor. Yet, the new car is 22 percent more efficient than before.
At launch, the new X6 xDrive50i retails at $488,800 (including COE). Two other variants, the xDrive35i and xDrive30d, are also available on indent basis.

Citroen's latest funky crossover features a futuristic look that matches form with function. The most prominent element is the Airbump, a customisable graphic feature that enhances the vehicle's rugged stance while protecting the bodywork.
Thanks to an optimised platform and new range of efficient engines, the C4 Cactus tips the scale at only 975kg - 200kg lighter than its C4 counterparts. Fitting snugly in the Cat A COE, the crossover has an efficient 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that claims a fuel economy of 23km/L and CO2 emissions of just 98g/km.
At launch, the C4 Cactus retails at $110,988 (including COE and a $2,000 launch discount).

Ford brings good news to all motoring fans at the show, with its iconic muscle car - the Mustang - available in right-hand drive version for the first time.
Two variants will be offered when the car hits the showroom in the later part of the year - a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 and a 2.3-litre turbocharged in-line four. The former churns out a stonking 435bhp and 542Nm of torque, while the latter still has an impressive 310bhp and 433Nm of torque on tap.
According to Ford's salesperson, more than five pre-orders have been collected for the flagship V8 variant in manual guise.

Honda's latest people carrier has an eye on the mass market with its competitive pricing and a spacious cabin for seven people on board. Powering the Mobilio RS is a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that produces 120bhp and 145Nm of torque, which is matched to a new Earth Dreams CVT transmission for better fuel efficiency.
With a turning radius of just 5.2 metres, the Mobilio is also easy to drive in our urbanscape.

Despite the absence of sports car manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari, the event - held at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre - still has a wide variety of makes on showcase with 26 brands present. Besides the stonking Ford Mustang, the show, which spans over 12,000 square metres on the fourth floor of the exhibition hall, is glittered with the likes of the BMW i8 and the Lexus RC F Coupe.

Kia's seven-seater SUV is one of its most popular models to date. Now in its third generation, the Sorento is more sophisticated than before with a myriad of innovative features that makes it more user-friendly and desirable at the same time.
On top of the new bodyshell that promises better crash safety and improves ride comfort and handling, the wheelbase of the SUV has been increased by 80mm for bigger cabin space. Cargo space has also been enlarged from 515 to 605 litres. The new Smart Power Tailgate feature allows the trunk to be opened without any movement from the user - useful when your hands are full.
Two variants of the new Sorento will be offered - a 2.4-litre petrol GDI unit and a 2.2-litre turbodiesel.
Although prices for the SUV have yet to be announced, we can expect them to be competitively tagged against rivals.

Lexus' star of the show is blessed with its most powerful V8 to date. The flagship RC F is easily one of the most exciting models in its current lineup, where the soul-stirring design of the car is matched with 470bhp and 530Nm of torque for a dynamic and rounded appeal.
Giving the 2+2 coupe its punch is a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 that drives the rear wheels via a newly calibrated eight-speed Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) transmission.
The RC F Coupe retails at $438,000 (including COE) at launch.

Bearing strong influence from the Hazumi concept and the marque's SkyActiv technologies, the new Mazda2 has both looks and practicality to impress.
The new SkyActiv 1.5-litre unit, fitted with the i-Stop feature, delivers a fuel economy of 19.6km/L - one of the best in its class. To ensure a sporty driving experience, the supermini is also fitted with a six-speed automatic with manual shift and Sport mode.

Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker that has been lying low for some time now, is making headlines again with the Outlander PHEV - the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the South-East Asia region.
Sharing the rugged good looks and functional seven-seat layout as its petrol counterpart, the Outlander PHEV summons power from a 2.0-litre petrol unit and a 300-volt Lithium-ion battery. The result is performance equivalent of a 3.0-litre vehicle while achieving an impressive fuel economy of 17km/L.
Typical of plug-in hybrids, the Outlander PHEV offers three driving modes - EV, Series Hybrid and Parallel Hybrid, with the SUV capable of travelling on pure reserve energy with zero emission in the first mode. Two electric motors, one driving each axle, also help generate impressive all-wheel drive capability for the SUV.
The Outlander PHEV is available for pre-order, and will be officially launched towards the third quarter of the year.

Starring Nissan's crossover showcase is also the smallest on offer from the Japanese automaker. The U.K. designed and built Qashqai is now available in a 1.2-litre guise, which fits nicely into the small car COE category.
Despite sitting at the bottom of the model range, the Qashqai 1.2 will still be handsomely equpped with new Chassis Control technologies and comfortable zero-gravity seats. The 1.2-litre turbocharged unit pushes out 113bhp and 165Nm of torque. But more impressively, the small unit emits 129g/km of CO2, and has a fuel efficiency of close to 18km/L.

Peugeot's latest compact family hatchback and stationwagon steal the limelight with their alluring avant garde design and new 1.2-litre powertrain options that fit them snugly into Cat A COE.
Clever use of innovative steel, composites and aluminium helps the hatchback shed as much as 140kg compared to its predecessor. Despite reduced dimensions, the new 308 Hatchback boasts the largest boot volume of its class of 470 litres. Like the 308 SW, it is also the first in its segment to feature full-LED headlamps.
Underneath the hood of both these models is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder PureTech turbocharged petrol unit with 129bhp on tap. The engine is coupled to a new generation six-speed automatic gearbox.
