Times have changed.
Technology has advanced so rapidly that people are heavily relying on it. Social media has become a voice for people who wouldn't otherwise usually have the courage to speak their minds. Cars have evolved into machines that are smarter and more reliable. Americans have chosen a billionaire and made him a leader.
Times have changed indeed.
Wait, how's this related to the Lexus GS350?
That's simple, really. As time goes by, cars have undoubtedly evolved and the Lexus GS350 is no exception. Stepping into the premium sedan sphere with the likes of the Audi A6, the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Jaguar XF, Lexus knew it had to do something radical in order to convince buyers to make a necessary switch.
I like where this is going. I'm all ears
On first glance, the GS is undoubtedly an eye-catching sedan, with sharp lines and a bold spindle grille adorning its front fascia. To accompany its aggressive good looks, the luxury Japanese marque punched above its weight with a beefy drivetrain and unblemished handling capabilities, which can easily take on its German peers.
With 310 Samurai horses and 380Nm of torque sent to the rear wheels from the 3.5-litre V6 powerplant, the Lexus GS350 smashes the century sprint in a speedy and respectable six seconds. While such performance figures don't usually matter to most buyers of this car, it should matter when overtaking slower-moving vehicles on the highways are necessary.
It's not all about the numbers, too. Around short bursts of straights and long runs of curves, the GS350 manages to hold its own very well. Toggle the drive mode to Sport+ and you'll enjoy delayed shifts and sensitive throttle - perfect for hooliganism.

On the other hand, in everyday driving, living with the car becomes as easy as breathing. You could experience a bad day at work and get stuck in a jam on the expressway on your way home and still be able to distant yourself from all that stress once you're behind the wheel of the Lexus. Leave the GS in Normal mode and the car offers sufficient compliance to admirably absorb uneven road surfaces.
What about the cabin? Is it as luxurious as they say it is?
That, and then some. The GS is a roomy sedan that will fit four occupants in comfort in addition to the driver. Coupled with the soft leather-swathed benches, classic-looking wood trims and flawless fit and finish, what you get is a warm and cosy interior that's inviting and premium in more ways than one.
As a result, you can safely say that this is the perfect sedan for transporting people over long distances in contentment.
Should I get this or the turbocharged one?
That depends on what tingles your nuts. For us, we'd go for this instead of the equally capable $278,000 (as of 10th November 2016) Lexus GS200t. But that's only because we love naturally aspirated engines. In a time where turbocharging is in almost every car, the GS350 is a rarity.
Either way, you can be rest assured that the car you see here strikes a well-controlled balance between comfort and sportiness, which isn't something a lot of car in this class can achieve. Top it off with a luxurious cabin and eye-catching looks and the Lexus GS makes for a compelling choice in this segment.
