E-Power System - Changing the way you drive

The performance and fuel consumption of modern day vehicles are achievements to be proud of. The burn rate of fuel in the engine is about 35% to 40%. This is the amount of fuel that is actually being burned in the combustion chamber to drive the piston of an engine. The remaining 60% to 65% of the fuel are wasted by being burned along the exhaust system which includes the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe and catalytic converter and in some cases left unburned and discharged into the atmosphere. Hence, the actual amount of energy produced within the combustion chamber is less than 10% of the fuel's energy potential.

Unburned fuel during overrun conditions

Overrun conditions occur when the momentum of the vehicle causes the engine to churn faster than it should be. Because of this, the engine will try to take in air that corresponds to the higher speed in which it is turning. Moreover, the air intake is partially restricted by the throttle valve, resulting in a high vacuum build up in the inlet manifold. 

Hence, this high vacuum build up causes more fuel to be consumed and also energy to slow down the vehicle. This gives rise to the 'engine braking' effect that we experience when we lift off the accelerator pedal when slowing down or going downhill.
 

Resistance in inducted air

It is normal for inducted air to have resistance and this happens over the entire rpm range. This causes the engine to expand energy to overcome this inherent weakness. However, by expanding more energy, engine performance is compromised. Scientists and technology experts have developed systems to rectify these areas and the E-Power System is one of them.

E-Power System

3G Devices
