The DS5 mixes design elements from various Citroen models and concepts, such as the C-SportLounge and the DS4. The car is able to accommodate five passengers in comfort, and boot space is rated at 465 litres. Like the other DS models, the DS5 features design details such as LED headlamps and the extensive use of chrome. The interior is decked in leather, wood and aluminium trim, while the flat-bottomed steering wheel, the driver-oriented central console and the special Bracelet seats gives the car a sporty and elegant ambience.
The DS5 will be Citroen's first car to utilise the PSA Group's Hybrid4 drivetrain, which mates a diesel engine with an electric motor for a combined power output of 200bhp, along with four-wheel-drive. The technology also allows the car to be driven in electric-mode only, for urban driving, with the diesel engine kicking in when extra power is required.
Citroen will produce the DS5 in France, and begin exports of the car by the end of 2011. China is expected to receive the car in early 2012, and the show car to be displayed at the Shanghai Motor Show will feature special 20-inch wheels and a pearlescent grey body colour.
