Facelift (What's New)
Redesigned head lights and taillights, and front air intakes
New centre console layout alongside a new gear selector
Advanced Comfort Seats in the cabin
Is it starting to get difficult to get in and out of the driver's seat? Are your children starting to jostle for space in the car? Is the boot starting to look tight after every grocery run?
If you've answered yes to any of those questions, it might be high time for you to ditch that hatchback in favour of this new Citroen C5 Aircross.
A new exterior

Gone is the gently rounded front of its predecessor. The front of this Citroen C5 Aircross is now visually dominated by a strong and bold grille, complete with a rather attractive 'piano key' detail.
Look at this SUV from the flank and you'll notice the use of black plastic under cladding on its lower sections, as well as the return of roof rails (which were removed when its predecessor made the switch over to a 1.2-litre powerplant here in Singapore), all necessary for pulling off that strong and rugged SUV look.

Also new here are the firm's Advanced Comfort seats, which in this C5 Aircross now feature more contours, a departure from the basic design that wrapped those found on its predecessor.
And true to their name, the new items are comfortable to lounge in, offering a nice level of lateral support around the thighs, along with good cushioning at all the right places along their backs. And of course, the vehicle's elevated stance also makes ingress and egress easy.
An 8.0-inch infotainment system continues to serve in this cabin, complete with a host of touch-sensitive buttons that allow easy switching between sub-menus but could use a boost to their sensitivity.
Thankfully, the second row of the C5 Aircross is where most potential customers will be won over. Still present here are the three equally sized seats alongside the flat floor, which should help to keep those arguments about who should sit where to a minimum.
These seats, mind, also slide forward by up to 150mm, so you always get the option to trade the reasonable amount of legroom available for more space at the back when you need to ferry longer pieces of cargo.
Still an easy drive

The SUV's suspension, equipped with the firm's Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, do a good job of isolating the cabin away from the various bumps and ruts on the road, although overall comfort here is let down by the body's noticeable diving under braking.
But more frustrating here is the fact that the switches to activate the Cruise Control function are still located on a stalk mounted low down on the steering column, which mean you'll need to familiarise yourself with them before setting off, as glancing at the stalk will require you to take your eyes off the road.

And adding further to this relaxed drive is a steering that is not only light at highways speeds, but also incredibly so when you're simply crawling along, making parking an absolute breeze.
If you're after a family-friendly SUV that can ferry everyone, no questions asked, this Citroen C5 will make a great pick.
Shopping for a sensible SUV with space for the family? There's also these options to consider:
The Mitsubishi Eclipse comes with sleek styling and a reasonably punchy drivetrain
There's also the Nissan Qashqai to consider, with its quiet and refined drive
Or the Peugeot 3008, which also comes with stunning looks and an attractive interior
Alternatively, you might want to look at the Mazda CX-5, with its good looks and excellent drivability
