MINI reveals first design details of its next generation cars

MINI has revealed new details of the design of the new all-electric model family, already set to comprise a 3-Door and a Countryman.

The models will embody a new 'Charismatic Simplicity' design philosophy, a reduced design language that will place focus on the essentials, while giving each MINI model its own strong individual character. MINI states that use of sustainable materials will also form an essential part of this new design language.

For the exteriors of its cars, the brand is set to use a new design for its rims that departs from emphasising the sculptural nature of the spoke structure, and instead utilises a graphic design characterised by strong colour contrasts. This, MINI states, will not only create an illusion of size, but will also offer improved aerodynamic performance.

In the cabin, the new generation cars will sport a round OLED display that spans 240mm. This screen will adopt a sleek design and a new, minimalistic user interface.

This screen will sit next to a new steering wheel, which now utilises a two-spoke design, although this wheel can also be had with an additional fabric finish. The range of seats will also be expanded, with a fresh combination of new colours and patterns. These seats will also be available with laminated side panels.
