  • New Audi A6 gets PHEV variants

Both the A6 Avant and A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattros will be offered in two power levels, and have a larger battery as compared to their PHEV predecessors.

Audi is expanding the portfolio of its new A6 with two PHEV models, the A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro and the A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro.

Both models will be powered by a 2.0-litre engine and an electric motor, and made available in two power levels. The entry-level variant is capable of 220kW (295bhp) and 450Nm of torque, giving it a century sprint timing of 6.0 seconds, while the more powerful variant has a system output of 270kW and 500Nm of torque and can hit 100km/h from rest in 5.3 seconds. Both share the same top speed of 250km/h.

The Avant expresses a dynamic look with its more sculpted rear end, flanking aerodynamic panels, and roof edge spoiler

With the new generation of high-voltage battery having around 45% more capacity as compared to its predecessor, both the Avant and the Sedan can drive more than 100km purely on electric power. Maximum AC charging power is now 11kW. Also, if the battery is completely empty, it will only take 2.5 hours to charge it to 100%.

Designed for efficiency, the hybrid management system of the new models automatically selects the optimal operating strategy. Two operating modes are available to the system: "EV" and "hybrid". In EV mode, the PHEV models run on electric power. In hybrid mode, the hybrid management system maintains a specific charge level as needed in order to save enough electrical energy for later use.

The PHEV models' recuperation performance has also been improved, with the degree of thrust recuperation in EV mode able to be adjusted to three different levels using paddles on the steering wheel

Combined with the quattro ultra drive and standard all-wheel steering, the electrified dual-clutch transmission increases agility at low speeds and provides even more stability at higher speeds, enhancing driving comfort.

The new PHEV models can be ordered in Germany as of now, with its initial launch planned for Q3 2025.
