Opel has revealed the first details of its refreshed Combo light commercial vehicle.
The new Opel Combo continues to be available either with petrol or diesel engines, or as an all-electric vehicle. All drivetrains will be available with two different body lengths, as well as a choice of two or three front seats, although Opel is now offering the Combo as a five-seat Crew Cab.
Up front, the van now gets that characteristic Vizor brand fascia that we have seen from the firm's passenger cars such as the Astra. This fascia also now houses the firm's Intelli-Lux LED Matrix lights, which make use of a total of 14 LED elements to ensure that oncoming cars are not dazzled when the high beams are activated.
For the Opel Combo Electric, total driving range has now been increased, so it now offers a WLTP total range of 330km (up from the 293km of the outgoing model), despite still utilising a 50kWh battery. This improvement comes thanks to the use of a new high-efficiency heat pump that Opel states will better conserve range in low temperatures.
The Opel Combo Electric gets an electric motor that produces a total of 134bhp and 270Nm of torque. Its battery, meanwhile, can be charged at up to 7.4kW (11kW charging is offered as an option) via an alternating current source, while maximum charging speed is 100kW if charging via a direct current charger.
The Opel Combo Electric continues to offer a maximum of 4,400 litres of storage space, alongside a 780kg payload and a 750kg towing capacity.
Now across all engine variants of the Combo is the use of a 10-inch colour touchscreen that offers enhanced graphics and comes complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The van also now comes with a new Dynamic Surround Vision safety feature that utilises one camera located above the rear doors and another under the passenger-side exterior mirror to give the driver a high-definition display in the digital rear-view mirror, enabling the driver to manoeuvre the vehicle more safely.
