Rolls-Royce says that the Ghost Extended Wheelbase is aimed at customers "who require increased space and comfort without sacrificing Ghost's unique balance of dynamism and poise". The car will be built to order only, with limited units to be produced this year and in 2012.
The Ghost Extended Wheelbase adds 170mm to the length of the standard Ghost, and the car now measures 5569mm long. Legroom and knee room has been substantially increased, with Rolls-Royce saying it is more than double than that of the normal Ghost model, while there is also a new panoramic sunroof added.
Under the bonnet, the Ghost Extended Wheelbase is powered by the same 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine as the normal Ghost, which produces 571bhp and 780Nm of torque. Rolls-Royce claims that the long wheelbase Ghost can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5 seconds flat. There is also the intelligent four corner air suspension to help maintain the balance between comfort and handling.
Aside from the Ghost Extended Wheelbase, Rolls-Royce also showcased the Ghost China Edition at the Shanghai show. The China Edition features a red interior, gold twin-coachlines, gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy and stainless steel pinstripes, as well as three special paint colours, Deep Garnet, Black Ember and Infinity, and silver and gold packages.
