This Car is a Mess of a Drive
Rented this car for a week while I was in Malaysia on holiday. When I first got the car, it actually looked pretty decent. It had LED welcome lights, remote tailgate, and quite a spacious interior for 4 adults and 1 child. However, when I drove the car, boy did my disappointment rise to the roof. The CVT was extremely messy and all over the place. It felt like me driving a toy car and trying to manuvoure it properly was a real challenge. The move off from standstill was really laggy and unrefined. Moving off from a slope was even worse. The CVT/gearbox totally needed 3 to 4 seconds before the car could slowly move off. The drive was also noisy and the suspension was one of the harshest suspensions I've ever experienced.... Read More
Preve is Proving Itself To The World
I got into the car via keyless entry system, then greeted with a push-start button. The engine fired off in a hush manner, with little vibration jolting the cabin. A glance on the spec sheet reveals that the car comes with more than two airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and other features that are frequently found in luxury cars. One would have never guessed that the car is a product from Proton - until now. Proton Preve, a new C-segment sedan from the Malaysian marque, is set to prove that Proton is ready to make a name all around the world. Measuring with a length of 4543mm, wheelbase of 2650mm, height of 1524mm and width of 1786mm, designers of the Preve hid its sheer size very well. Preve is a huge C-segment sedan on paper but when looking at its exterior, it’s like a B-segment on steroid. The Preve looks smart with the daytime running light on, and has great road presence on the road thanks to its bulky front end. The rear end of the Preve bears some resemblance of the Volvo S60, which is not a bad thing considering the S60 is an attractive looking sedan. But the lines can be cleaner in my opinion, where the line from the Proton badge doesn't flow well into the taillights and suddenly diverted down to the bumper. Huge boot by the way, measuring at 508 litres. I'm glad to say that the cabin of the Preve is very spacious, on par with some larger D-segment sedans’ interior space. I have more than enough legroom at the back even with the front seat adjusted to my rather tall 5' 8'' frame. My head still have some room to spare albeit the sloping roofline.... Read More
