First Chinese PHEV in Singapore
Been driving the J7 phev for almost 1 year till date. Collect end Feb 25 and after 35000km, have to say that the J7 is the best car that I have owned and driven! Drove 25K on electric and 10K on fuel.
The car can cover 1300 km with full battery and fuel. Unable to achieve the claimed 1450 km. The energy consumption is very good and my average is 13kwh/100km being a very light footed and with speed limit driver.
It is powerful and smooth. The engine charging the battery is hardly noticeable. Compared to the BYD equivalent, the J7 is much more enjoyable to drive.
The interior is somewhat minimalist compared to the BYD equivalent but then it makes the J7 more spacious, neater and less cluttered.
The ADAS 2.0 needs getting used to. Nowadays I hardly get any warning except when I exceed the road speed limit intermittently. I would say it is less intrusive to use. Love the adaptive cruise control especially on the NSH up North. The Lane Keep Assist is excellent as it disciplines me to signal everytime I change lanes.
I love the suspension as it is not the typical Chinese bouncy floaty feel but firm and solid like on my previous continental car ! However on bad roads it may become somewhat shaky.
In general, I am happy with my purchase. Only down side is the poor warranty coverage provided by the agent....in general it is 2 years or 30K for common electronic electric parts....sad !... Read More
Most efficient car
I've been driving the Jaecoo J7 since March 2025, and overall it has been a very satisfying ownership experience. The drive is smooth and enjoyable, and the fuel efficiency has genuinely impressed me. By charging the battery every two to three days, I almost forget that the car even needs petrol — refuelling has become a rare event.
While the onboard technology may not be the most cutting-edge in its class, it is more than sufficient for my daily needs and works reliably without fuss. What really stands out is the combined horsepower and torque, which deliver strong and confident performance, whether in city driving or on the highway.
All in all, the Jaecoo J7 strikes a great balance between efficiency, performance, and practicality, making it an enjoyable car to live with day to day.... Read More
