Eurokars Group has unveiled the all new fourth generation Mazda MX-5 at its newly refurbished Mazda flagship showroom. Based on the theme 'Celebrate Driving', the new showroom focuses on customer care and provides an enhanced customer experience, with a runway car display concept, showcasing all Mazda models in the most visually impacful layout.
First unveiled in 1989, Mazda's two-seater roadster has achieved worldwide appeal - recognised by The Guinness World Records for being the 'best-selling two-seater sports car'. To date, total production of the car has reached 950,000 units. The latest iteration continues to receive global recognition, having been recently accorded the 2015 'Red dot: Best of the Best' product design award.
It has the most compact body size of any MX-5 generation, combined with a weight reduction of more than 100kg over the third generation model. The Jinba-Ittai driving experience, the feeling of oneness between the driver and the car is enhanced as a fresh breeze in an open-top sports car is enjoyed by the driver.
Inside, the human-centric cockpit of the MX-5 offers an ideal sports car driving position with outstanding visbility - occupants sit 15mm closer to the centre and lower by 20mm. At the same time, pedals are centred to the driver's body and controls are laid out ergonomically for maximum operability. The new sports seats feature a S-Fit structure with newly developed net material, urethane pads and they feature six individual tensions for greater customised levels of comfort.
Mazda's latest connectivity feature, Mazda Connect (MZD Connect) is also equipped on the new MX-5 and it allows seamless connectivity with smartphones via Bluetooth. Integrated with a navigation function, the 7.0-inch screen and commander control ensures clarity and ease of use for both driver and passenger on the go.
Opening or closing the soft-top is easier than before and can be done in a light and easy motion. While staying true to its purpose as a two-seater sports car, Mazda has worked hard to make the MX-5 a practical vehicle. Examples include well-designed and easy-to-use storage compartments, removable drink holders and a trunk that can accommodate two carry-on luggage.
The roadster is powered by a 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G engine that produces 158bhp and 200Nm of torque. As a result, the automatic transmission model will hit the 100km/h mark in eight seconds while the one equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox will finish the century sprint in 7.3 seconds.
