Last Friday, Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver Nelson Piquet Jr electrified the streets of Rome in the Jaguar I-TYPE 2 alongside FIA Formula E Champions Lucas di Grassi, Sebastien Buemi and the newest recruit to the grid - Luca Fillipi - to launch the inaugural Rome E-Prix, taking place on 14th April 2018.
The scenic route took Nelson through the ancient streets of the 'Eternal City', making a pit stop at Campidoglio, continuing past the famous Colosseum towards the Roma Convention Center La Nuvola in the contemporary district of EUR where the race will be held. Alongside the street demonstration, the location and circuit layour were unveiled for the first time.
Nelson Piquet Jr said, "Today has been fantastic. It was my first time in Rome and great fun to drive the Jaguar I-TYPE 2 in the Italian traffic. Driving past the Colosseum was a highlight for me. I love the challenge of a technical course and this will be one of the longest in the series. I'm really looking forward to the Rome E-Prix next year."
