Type 01 prototype heralds a new era for Jaguar

Jaguar has finally revealed the name of its new luxury, four-door GT: Type 01, which appears on the strikethrough motif where bonnet meets windscreen.

Speaking on the nomenclature, Jaguar says the "0" in "Type 01" represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions, while "1" denotes its status as the first Jaguar of a new era that will be designed, developed, and built entirely in the U.K.

Meanwhile, the "Type" designation unites the brand's history of innovation in design, technology and performance with the most advanced Jaguar ever. The first of its type, this model features innovative new body architecture and tri‑motor technology that delivers more than 735kW and over 1,300Nm of torque.

Jaguar has said that prototypes of the Type 01 will appear on the streets of Monaco wearing a distinctive camouflage wrap, ahead of the Jaguar TCS Racing team competing in the Formula E race weekend.

And while we don't quite know what the car looks like yet, Jaguar has said that the Type 01's design will be revealed later in 2026.
