  • Tesla Singapore apparently offering discounts for cars in existing inventory

The move is in line with slashed prices seen in other regional markets, such as South Korea, China and Australia, by the electric carmaker.

Reuters has broken the news that Tesla Singapore is offering discounts for cars in its existing inventory. Currently, both the Model 3 and Model Y are on sale locally.

As per the report, customers with an existing ICE car can look forward to a discount of US$5,000 (approximately $6,600 at prevailing exchange rates) if they trade their vehicle in. A rebate of the exact same amount will also apply to the COE attached to their new Tesla. This will mean that buyers can potentially enjoy a maximum discount of around $13,000 if they meet both conditions.

The move follows price discounts witnessed in other markets, including China and Australia
Tesla Singapore retails its cars not through dealers, but directly to customers via an online store, and it appears that the financial incentive will not apply for those who still choose to custom build their cars on the website.

Currently, prices for the cars vary depending on how a customer chooses from the firm's variety of paintwork and interior colours. Drivers who opt for the lower-powered, rear-wheel drive variants can also top up extra cash for large wheels.

Tesla Singapore's existing inventory section for its Model Y SUVs can be accessed right here (accurate as of 16 January 2022).

The move is in line with price discounts offered by Tesla in most of its markets in an apparent bid to accelerate demand for its cars. China, where Tesla has manufacturing facilities (and from which the Singapore market receives its cars), has experienced price cuts at least twice over the last three months.
