Kia is now targeting annual sales of 2.38 million electrified vehicles by 2030, and 1.6 million annual sales of all-electric vehicles by the same year.

Kia has updated its goals for the future at its CEO Investor Day event held in Seoul, Korea.

Not surprisingly, its mid to long-term strategy still focuses on electrification, with the firm looking bullish when it comes to its sales targets.

Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song states that the revised electrification targets comes as a result of the favourable reception to the EV6 globally
For a start, its 2030 global sales target is now 4.3 million, of which 2.38 million will be electrified vehicles. This goal represents a 34% increase over the sales target of 3.2 million units made in 2023.

And Kia's outlook on electrified sales is rosier still, with the targeted proportion of electrified vehicles now comprising 55% of its total unit sales goal, a 7.5% increase from its target announced in 2022.

Fully electric vehicles are also set to get a boost, with a total annual sales target of one million units now set to be reached by 2026, and a target of 1.6 million units annually now set for 2030. This represents a 25% increase and 33% increase respectively, from goals announced in 2022.

The firm additionally now plans to build a battery electric vehicle lineup that comprises of 15 models by 2027, one more than its target announced in 2022.

A new Highway Drive Pilot autonomous driving technology is set to make its debut in the all-electric EV9
For comparison, Nissan recently revised its electrification goals, so a total of 19 all-electric vehicles are now promised by 2030 under its Nissan Ambition 2030 long-term vision.

Kia also revealed at the event that it plans to further develop its autonomous driving technology know-how, with the recently revealed EV9 all-electric SUV now set to feature a Highway Drive Pilot conditional level three autonomous driving technology.

This technology will allow the driver to operate the vehicle 'hands-off' under specific conditions. 'Eyes-off' Highway Drive Pilot technology, meanwhile, will be introduced to the market come 2026.

The firm also announced that it plans to launch a mid-size dedicated Purpose-Built vehicle in 2025 at a dedicated production facility in Hwaseong, South Korea. This model will follow from a lineup of  Purpose-Built vehicles after the Kia Niro Plus, and will include vehicles across a variety of size ranges, including a robo-taxi with autonomous driving technology. We expect this model to not be unlike the Ioniq 5 robo-taxi set to be launched in the U.S.A come late 2023.
