  • Ioniq 5-based robotaxi takes the Las Vegas strip

Hyundai has released a new video demonstrating the Ioniq 5 robotaxi's autonomous driving tech as it makes its way past the traffic of Las Vegas.

Hyundai Motor Company has released a new campaign video featuring the Ioniq 5-based robotaxi.

Set to be launched in the U.S.A in late 2023 in Las Vegas - home of the most influential tech event in the world - the robotaxi is seen in the video above driving through the infamous city's boulevards.

A suite of sensors connected to an onboard computing system allows the Ioniq 5 robotaxi to navigate the diverse Las Vegas traffic
The robotaxi is said to feature Level 4 autonomous driving technology, courtesy of its more than 30 advanced sensors, all tied to onboard computing system that allows it to navigate safely and confidently despite sharing the road with all sorts of limousines, trucks, and pedestrians in unusual costumes.

The autonomous vehicle is also shown performing a safe passenger pick up in a crowded hotel driveway just like an experienced chauffeur.

Hyundai states that the robotaxi will be available in Los Angeles, and eventually in other major cities both in the U.S.A and globally, and is already learning to navigate the narrow and curvy streets of Boston, the street-level light rail service and protected bicycle lanes of San Diego, and manage left-side traffic, right here in Singapore.
