Jaguar stole the limelight at the 2010 Paris Motor Show with the C-X75 concept. Though the company announced plans for the stunning coupe to go into production, most of us knew it would not bring with it the turbine-powertrain featured in the concept.

True enough, Jaguar announced last year that the C-X75 will sport a force-induced four cylinder petrol engine coupled to a hybrid drivetrain, with technical assistance from the Williams F1 team in the engine development.

Now though, for those who had kept their hopes hanging, Jaguar might have heard the wishes: limited editions of the C-X75 will include micro-turbine in their drivetrain. According to reports, the turbines will be built by Bladon Jet Engineering Centre, which is partially owned by Jaguar’s parent company Tata. Although the turbine will deliver less than 100hp each, they operate with the absence of cooling and lubrication systems, hence reduction the space required and weight. This will provide more allowance for the hybrid systems.

With the attention garnered by the concept alone, expect the turbine-powered baby Jag to be a hit when it reaches showrooms in a few years’ time.
