Clinching the top spot 11 times of 14 expeditions, Audi has already made a mark for itself at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The annual race is part of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), and is dubbed one of the most iconic.
In its attempt to win for the 12th time, Audi will field no less than three cars at this year's event. With each year's passing, the competition is heightened - and this year no less. So far, Audi has managed to put off challenger Toyota with a score of five to three in the championship.
As per tradition, Audi will continue to put its pilot technologies to the test on track. This year, the R18 e-tron quattro cars has been thoroughly revised in areas of the engine, hybrid system and lightweight chassis design. The aerodynamics has also been honed specifically for Le Mans.
The diesel hybrid will also sport features such as digital rear-view mirror with an AMOLED display and LED headlamps with matrix-beam technology.
The driver line-up is no less spectacular. The #1 car will be driven by current World Endurance Champions - Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer - who's victory this year will pull off a hat-trick at Le Mans, following past two consecutive wins.
Tom Kristensen, the current Le Mans record holder with eight wins, will pilot the #2 car with teammates Loic Duval and Allan McNish. The trio has won the season opener of the WEC, runner-up at La Sarthe last year, and look just as confident for top spot this year.
In the #3 car is Marc Gene who was the winner for Le Mans in 2009. Teammate Oliver Jarvis scored his first podium finish last year at Le Mans, while Lucas di Grassi is making his Le Mans debut.
