    A senior Bank Executive was sentenced to two weeks' jail and banned from driving for causing death of motorcyclist.


    By causing the death of a motorcyclist, Senior Bank Executive, Gary Chan Chee Meng, was sentenced to two weeks' jail and banned from driving for four years.

    At the time of accident, Chan was also caught to have drink driving. He had 42ug of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35ug.

    The accident took place at around 3:00am on 13th August 2011, when Chan drove his Mercedes-Benz into the path of 18-year old Noor Azhar. The motorcyclist had the right of way.

    Mr Noor Azhar sustained serious injuries, and died around one and a half hours later.

    Chan will start his sentence on Friday. He can be jailed for up to two years and/or fined for causing death due to a negligent act.
