Volvo EX30 gets V2L functionality, infotainment refresh

Volvo is updating its bestselling EX30 electric crossover for the new model year with a suite of upgrades that are sure to put it in better stead against the growing competition.
Interestingly, the headlining act for this 2026 model year update is Volvo's announcement of a new entry-level powertrain for the EX30, which delivers 110kW and relies on a 51kWh battery for 339km of range. A larger 69kWh battery - good for up to 476km of driving - is also available as an option.
If all these numbers sound familiar, that's because they are; Volvo Singapore has offered both variants of the EX30 in Singapore since June 2025 in a bid to slot the model into the Category A COE club. The latest release by Volvo suggests that Singapore might have been the first market to receive the 110kW powertrain.
But that's not all that potential buyers of the EX30 can look forward to the 2026 model year update.
The little crossover is also set to get a UX enhancement for its infotainment system, which promises to deliver improved access to essential controls through a comprehensive redesign of the settings and controls architecture.
This update is said to position critical functions within easy reach, while introducing a customisable content bar that enables users to configure space for predictive actions or their most frequently used features.
Furthermore, the updated EX30 will come equipped with hardware capabilities to support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology for the first time, enabling customers to store energy within their electric vehicle's battery system for later use.
This functionality, initially launching in select markets, effectively converts the EX30 into a mobile power bank for charging external electrical devices such as electric bicycles or powering equipment including tools, audio systems, and outdoor gear. Operation requires only a compatible adapter to connect the vehicle to the desired appliance.
If you already own an EX30 and are looking forward to these updates, you're in luck. Both the new V2L capabilities and the updated UX interface will be delivered to new and current EX30 owners through over-the-air software updates, only described for now as being scheduled for summer deployment.
What you can't expect an over-the-air update for, however, is the duo of new interior colours that Volvo is now introducing to the EX30 range.
The first of the two, dubbed 'Harvest', presents a warm, light-toned design concept drawn from late Scandinavian summer evenings. This option features light-coloured woven recycled textile upholstery, complemented by subtly contrasting Nordico upholstery crafted from recycled materials including PET bottles, refined dark flax trim elements, and black headlining. Volvo states that all of the textures work together to create a contemporary, natural atmosphere.
The Black interior colourway will also be extended to buyers of the recently-unveiled EX30 Black Edition
On the other hand, the new 'Black' interior configuration showcases a deep-black colour scheme where smooth Nordico upholstery with gently contrasting stitching pairs with natural dark flax trim details to achieve a timeless aesthetic.
The latest announcement comes shortly after the debut of the first-ever Volvo EX30 Black Edition. If you remember, Volvo had only allowed customers to opt for the Indigo interior colourway on the Black Edition car, but the brand has unsurprisingly also made the Black interior available as an option now. Sgcarmart has, however, confirmed that there are no plans to bring the EX30 Black Edition to Singapore.
"Premium entry level electric cars are growing fast, and EX30 has been a leader in this segment since it was launched," said Erik Severinson, Chief Commercial Officer at Volvo Cars.
"The latest EX30 will further increase our addressable market in this segment, be a driver of electrified growth for Volvo Cars and attract more customers towards full electrification, together with our electrical options in all other size segments."
