Following the fully electric EX30's introduction in Singapore, Volvo Cars Singapore (Volvo) has now announced the launch of a new EX30 variant that now falls under Cat A COE, making it the brand's first fully electric model to do so.
The new EX30 is available in two variants at launch: Plus and Ultra.
The 'Plus' variant is fitted with a 51kWh battery delivering an efficient WLTP range of up to 337km as well as a maximum charging power of 7.2kW when at an alternating current charger and 134kW when you're at a direct current charger. With a 150kW DC fast charger, the EX30 Plus can be charged from 10% to 80% state-of-charge in 26 minutes.
The 'Ultra' Volvo EX30 is fitted with Volvo's extended-range 69kWh battery, boosting its WLTP range up to 475km and offering a maximum charging power of 22kW when plugged into an alternating current source, and 153kW via a direct current charger. Owing to its bigger battery, the EX30 'Ultra' can be charged from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes with a 150kW DC fast charger.
Both variants drive the rear wheels of the car, and will each offer a total power output of 110kW and 343Nm of peak torque, as well as a century sprint timing of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h.
Exterior-wise, the EX30's roof top, roof spoiler, and door mirror covers are cloaked in Onyx Black. It also features LED head lights with daytime running lights and active high beam, as well as high-positioned LED rear brake lights with rear fog lights. Five exterior colours will be available for the EX30: Onyx Black, Vapour Grey, Crystal White, Cloud Blue, and Sand Dune.
Inside, it's a little different for both trims. The EX30 Plus features Indigo or Pine leather-free upholstery and Denim or Flax interior trim decor. As for the EX30 Ultra, it features Breeze, Indigo, Pine, or Mist leather-free upholstery, with Particle, Denim, or Flax interior trim decor.
Both trims share a squared design sport steering wheel covered in leather-free synthetic material, air-conditioning vents decor in Blue or Transparent, and Charcoal headlining. In terms of technology, the EX30 comes with a 12.3-inch HD centre touchscreen display, offers both Android automotive OS and Apple Carplay, and over-the-air software update capability.
As for storage, the EX30's rear boot space ranges from 318-litres (with the second-row seats up) to 622-litres (once the second-row seats folded), as well as a seven-litre frunk.
The equipment offered differs with both trims: Retractable frameless door mirrors and the driver's side door mirror and interior rear view mirror with auto dimming comes as standard. For the Plus trim, it has Park Assist front and rear sensors as well as a reverse camera. In the case of the Ultra trim, it offers a fixed panoramic glass roof; Park Pilot Assist; Park Assist front, side, and rear sensors; and a 360° camera with 3D view.
As is standard for a Volvo vehicle, a plethora of safety features are available in the EX30, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Pilot Assist, Post Impact Braking and Rear Collision Warning, Driver Alert System, and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keeping Aid. The EX30 also has a far-side airbag on the inside of the driver's seat designed to help reduce head and thorax injuries in the event of a side impact.
Volvo Cars Singapore has opened orders for the EX30 Plus and Ultra, with the first deliveries scheduled from July 2025. Additional perks offered include five years warranty up to 160,000km* (whichever comes first), five years of Wearnes assist*, and Volvo Service 2.0.
