Webber continues racing for Red Bull

Red Bull Racing has confirmed Mark Webber's contract extension until 2011

The Australian driver burst into the Formula One in 2002 with the defunct KL Minardi Asiatech where he scored a fifth place and points on his debut race at the Australian GP. He went on to finish the '02 season and did not come close to points again.

In 2003 - 2004, Webber joined the newly formed Jaguar Racing team, but the tenure at Jaguar wasn't quite memorable for Webber which led to a move to BMW Williams/Williams for the '05 - '06 seasons.

At Williams, Webber would acquire his first podium at the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix, but that was his only bright spot for the year. The following year, Webber commented that it was a hugely disappointing year for him and he wanted to move on™

Things turn for the better at the start of the '07 season when Red Bull Racing came knocking on Webber's door for a driver's seat. Having signed on with the team, Webber immediately made an impact with a Nurburgring (European GP) podium, however it would be RBR's learning year and much was to be learnt.

This season, Webber is on target to possibly take it all in the championship and it would be a memorable year indeed. "It was an easy decision to remain with Red Bull Racing. We began talking very early this year and were in a position to sign by the Barcelona Grand Prix," he commented on his contract extension with the team. "The decision to extend for a further year was a mutual one; it's widely know that I'm not interested in hanging around in Formula One just for the sake of it and at this stage of my career, I'm happy to take one year at a time. I continue to feel very comfortable here - I have a fantastic relationship with the whole team and the factory at Milton Keynes feels like home."
