Audi delivers 50th new generation R8 LMS race car

Audi Sport customer racing handed over the 50^th Audi R8 LMS to a customer team in motorsport, with the Yaco Racing squad taking over the GT3 race car at Audi Sport's Bollinger Hofe site.

Audi is one of the most popular suppliers of the new generation of GT3 race cars, and the 50^th customer car comes only half a year following the production launch at Bollinger Hofe. "We achieved the mark of fifty race cars sold in clearly less time than with the predecessor model," says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. "This is a result which all employees of Audi Sport customer racing can be proud of in the fiercely competitive global GT3 market."

Yaco Racing's team boss Uwe Geipel and race driver Philip Geipel were obviously excited about the new season in the ADAC GT Masters on taking possession of the new car. "We've been relying on Audi since 2013," says Geipel. "Our development in racing is the reward for our commitment. Last year, we clinched our first victory in the finale at the Hockenheimring. We're proud of starting the new season with the 50^th model of Audi's latest GT3 race car generation and are setting our sights on our next successes."

The R8 LMS is based on the high-performance R8 sports car for the road with which it shares 50 percent of its components, including the production V10 engine.
