  • Peugeot updates the 2008 crossover with a bold new grille

The updated Peugeot 2008 gets a stronger new exterior and equipment upgrade and an upgraded powertrain for its all-electric variant.

Peugeot has unveiled the facelifted 2008.

Most noticeable change for the new car is its new grill, which takes after the one we first saw on the Peugeot 408, so it now sports vertical elements to emphasise the height of the crossover.

The Peugeot 2008 gets a new grill, while the front bumper also now gets three vertical light elements at each corner
The front bumper of the 2008 also now gets three vertical light elements or 'claws' at each corner as opposed to the single element present on the outgoing car, a touch borrowed from the updated Peugeot 508.

This latest Peugeot 2008 also now gets the marque's redesigned crest, alongside new designs for its alloy wheels, which feature a four-spoke wheel centre, stamped with the Peugeot crest, which elegantly conceals the wheel nuts.

In the cabin, the 'Allure' and 'GT' trim cars will get a redesigned 10-inch digital instrument cluster, with the one in the 'GT' cars retaining their 3D display. The 10-inch infotainment screen meanwhile, is now standard across all trim levels.

Those that opt for the Peugeot 2008 in 'GT' trim will also get a new eight-colour ambient lighting system in the cabin. Peugeot states that some of the colours from the system are new.

Also standard for the 'GT' trim car is an upgraded wireless smartphone charger which now charges at 15W as opposed to the 5W unit of before. This upgraded induction charger is available as an option for the 'Allure' trim car.

Shoppers that opt for the Peugeot E-2008 will also now get an upgraded drivetrain, similar to the one that now does duty in the Mokka Electric, so peak power is now 154bhp, while battery capacity is now raised to 54kWh. This increased capacity sees the WLTP range of the Peugeot E-2008 now standing at 406km as opposed to the 345km of before.

Petrol-only options for the Peugeot 2008 internationally include a 100bhp 1.2-litre unit paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, while a 130bhp 1.2-litre three-cylinder is also offered with an eight-speed automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox.
