New smart ForTwo to get more power

Daimler has announced that the 2010 smart ForTwo city car will get an improved diesel engine that will provide more power without any increase in fuel consumption.

The new three cylinder diesel will now provide 54bhp, 21% more power than before, and 130Nm of torque, an increase of 18%. This allows the ForTwo diesel to go from 0-100km/h in 16.8 seconds, while fuel consumption remains at a frugal 3.4 litres per 100km.

There are also minor cosmetic changes in the interior to the 2010 model year smart ForTwo. These include an optional folding armrest, a hands-free system and a multimedia system with colour display.
