Scura is Italian for dark, and the latest edition of the Lotus Exige is painted in a matt black finish with high gloss 'Phantom Black' triple stripes to give it that name. Only 35 units of the Exige Scura will be made, and it will be officially launched at the Tokyo Motor Show. Interestingly, it will be called the Exige Stealth in Japan.
"The Exige Scura is a stunning vehicle which offers an adrenaline fuelled experience and is a real head-turner," Luke Bennett, Director of Lotus Cars said. "Our Exige customers choose Lotus because we deliver thrilling performance and dynamic design and this special edition fits the bill on both counts."
The exterior features lightweight carbon fibre components such as a front splitter, oil cooler inlet vanes, side air scoops and a rear spoiler. Carbon fibre is also used in the interior, where the material can be found on the sports seats and centre console.
The Exige Scura will be powered by a Toyota-supplied 1.8 litre supercharged engine with VVTL-i that produces 260bhp and 236Nm. The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, and Lotus has included technology such as Lotus Launch Control and Lotus Traction Control that was originally designed for the Exige GT3 racing series. The Scura can go from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds, and reach a top speed of 245km/h. Lotus claims that the Scura gives a fuel consumption figure of 8.5 litres per 100km.
Lotus will begin taking orders for the Exige Scura Special Edition on 21 October, with the car available only in selected markets like Europe, South Korea, Australia, South Africa, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
