Hyundai launches stripped out Genesis Coupe for tuners

The new Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec has been stripped of non-essential equipment and left to the bare bones, in order for tuners to get their hands on providing performance packages for the budget compact coupe.

The Genesis R-Spec has also been given a mild performance upgrade by Hyundai to further assist the tuners, with track-tuned suspension, a Brembo braking system, Torsen limited-slip differential as well as Summer performance tires on 19-inch gunmetal-finished alloys among the performance additions. The R-Spec is powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged intercooled engine that produces 210bhp and a top speed of 220km/h.

Among the equipment from the standard car that has been stripped from the R-Spec include Bluetooth, cruise control, trip computer, chrome accents and the multifunction steering wheel. In their place are R-Spec badging as well as a leather-wrapped gear shift and steering wheel and a six-speaker stereo system. The Genesis R-Spec is available in three colours, Karussell White, Bathurst Black and Tsukuba Red.
