Volkswagen Passat CC to get five seats

The Volkswagen Passat CC was originally conceived as a four-seater, four-door coupe. But consumer demand has led to Volkswagen introducing a new rear bench to make the Passat CC a five-seater. Volkswagen says the move will "give the Passat CC even greater everyday utility by adding a seating position."

The new rear bench for the Passat CC is an optional extra that costs €100, or US$140, and features three head restraints, a centre three-point seat belt, and an asymmetrically split folding backrest.

Other than the new rear bench, the Passat CC remains otherwise unchanged, with the same range of engines under the hood, including a 2.0-litre TSI with 200bhp, a 3.6-litre V6 FSI with 280bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI with 140bhp.
