Kia reveals official pictures of the new Sportage

The new Sportage is designed by former Audi designer and current Kia chief designer Peter Schreyer and features the family look that is already seen on recent Kia products such as the Soul, the Cadenza sedan and the Sorento SUV.

The five-door crossover compact SUV shares its platform with the new Hyundai Tucson, or ix35 in Europe, and is longer and wider than the outgoing Sportage, which will mean improved cabin space. The design also features more European influence, with more attention given to details.

Kia has not revealed details about the new Sportage’s engine range, but it is likely to get the same 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre four-cylinder engines with the six-speed automatic transmission as the Hyundai Tucson, with a another 1.6-litre petrol and 1.7-litre and 2.0-litre diesel units also possibilities.
