The car will be a five-door hatchback, and will be presented alongside Italdesign-Giugiaro's planned design study for the new Alfa Romeo 159. The Proton Hybrid Concept will feature a standard internal combustion engine fitted in the front which will charge the lithium-ion batteries, which power the electric drive.
The Proton Hybrid Concept will be able to seat four, and has a high roofline for improved cabin space. This allows the designers to raise the seats to an elevated level, allowing for easier access for passengers to enter and exit the cabin.
"This is the outcome of several years of study: the solution allows interior spaciousness on a par with that of a segment D saloon despite maintaining the exterior dimensions of a segment A car," said Italdesign Giugiaro boss Giorgetto Giugiaro.
