The carmaker was acknowledged as the only manufacturer to have all vehicles named Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).
The new Subaru Outback was also awarded 2010 Sport Utility Vehicle of the Year by Motor Trend, where it topped the charts in the safety category.
The brand’s two highly-acclaimed models, the Legacy and Forester, went neck-to-neck as contenders to be Subaru’s most applauded model, with the Legacy emerging victorious. The new fifth generation Subaru Legacy received the prestigious "Triple Crown" of safety awards (five-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program, five-star Euro NCAP, US Top Safety pick by IIHS), as well as Car of the Year Japan’s "Best Value Award".
The Forester also did not disappoint, sharing the limelight with the Legacy by winning a handful of prestigious awards as well. Besides being crowned Motor Trend’s 2009 Sport Utility Vehicle of the Year, the popular All-Wheel Drive was also voted Compact SUV People’s Choice by the Carsales Network websites for the second year in a row.
Subaru’s trademark multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the EXIGA, also proved its mettle by scoring top ratings in the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) for 2008-2009, which the Forester also achieved.
"At Subaru, safety always comes first, and our long-standing safety record is something we are very proud of," said Mr. Eddie Teo, Deputy General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Motor Image Enterprises.
All car parts used in the making of Subaru cars are certified by Fuji Heavy Industries, the leading car manufacturer in Japan with a time-honoured history dating back to its origins as an aircraft company.
The complete range of Subaru cars is available for test drives at Motor Image showrooms island-wide.
